Too bad it's nearly impossible to get one, unless on ebay but so expansive.

All the User are Neo-Hippies and don't
mind when we "sozialize" this Instrument!
wink

Yeah, you are right but i think that it is
possible to make one by yourself,
also there are similar Instruments like
the Hapi!

I really love the smooth Sound of the first Video!

They're awesome aren't they. ohyeah
There's one of our own GLP member's who's making one. Year & a half I think he said he's been doing it, from memory. Can't wait to hear what he's got when he's happy with the final product.

If you go to handpan.org you'll find heaps more info on all the different types. I love this instrument so so much. Want one.

it's pretty cool. Very pretty sound. I liked the first video but the guy on the right seemed like a poser. He never looked at his instrument like he was trying to be all cool.

Very cool, almost sounds electronic, but...
Any idea on a price range?

Steel drums flipped upside down. Sheesh, not some specially made drum.

When i saw the first Video from a Street Musican
i thought there is a Kaos Pad under a Shield lol

The Price Range is minimum ca. 2.000 USD
but there are only ca. 2.000 Original Instruments
and the Price is going up, above 12.000 USD!!!

It's similar to an upside down steel drum, however it has a closed end, and the people who make them are very in touch with the instruments they make.

When you are chosen to visit them to purchase one, you basically have to trip with the people.... and then a Hang has to choose YOU.

I've done a lot of research on these things ever since Shpongle released their last album, and especially after I saw their performance at the Roundhouse. They're amazing instruments, and it would be worth every dime to buy the jacked up priced ones off of ebay.
Don't be afraid to let go.

No, it's not!
The main-difference is (what i see) that a Steel Drum is played with a Metal Stick
but the HANG is played with
the Finger or with the Hand!

Okay, many Finger and Hands of drumming People are hard as Steel
but the Sound is different!

The Idea is similar but the Process is much more sophisticated!

The HANG is pretty cool, but I think the similar HAPI drum sounds better:
