(Obviously, best answer is not to take it. But if you do, messing around with it for a while will make your results less personal.) Last Edited by AlkaliDesert on 11/13/2012 09:31 AM |

Quoting: nah Prepping money is better spent on a retirement home in a third world country. Ditto. Costa Rica. Going there soon for a look-see. Thank God my father and father in law have kept their homes in the Balkans for 2,000 years! lol! So far we have 2 homes and 1 apartment overseas. My uncle bought his home in Mexico because he knows my dad won't share. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27524659 Think about it. Chances are, if you are a prepper, they already know. Funny....while you can input any information on this website for entertainment purposes....think of the tech available to govt that is still classified.... Much more practical to have truck rolling on the street and just scan the area....food... guns.. persons... |

I think the survey definitely is biased towards bugging in as opposed to bugging out. Quoting: Double O Zero 18 months there abouts, it is all about staying in so I had to answer questions about staying in one place as opposed to escape and evade. One question asks if you have a vehicle and what type but no mention about foot and compass or a mountain bike. Good to get thinking on though. |
| Plenty Paws User ID: 12412937 11/13/2012 10:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have not trusted National Geographic for a good long time. Many years ago before just about everyone had a computer I had a subscription to NG magazine. I had a collection that was started by my mother starting with my birth Month/year. I looked so forward to those things every month. Back then you got three channels on the tv where we lived and Mutual of Omahas Wild Kingdom was one of the few programs I would make sure I watched. We were not big on TV back then either. So anyway , years later NG put out a story in their Mag about the discovery of a new animal. They called it a hot headed ice borer. To me the picture looked like a altered picture of a naked mole rat. But hey what do I know? This was NG we are talking abut, the most trusted natural news and wonders company in the world......But it was in fact a lie. A made up story to spoof what they believed to be their stupid gullible customer base. It was in fact an altered picture of a mole rat. It was their "April fool" Joke. They have done others since. So any time I see NG's name attached to anything I automatically think it suspect. |

The religion of submission cannot survive an open and honest discussion of its convoluted and foolish scriptures, its sexually perverted terrorist prophet, or its deceitful and demented god. When Western leaders become unified and resolute in their hostility to Islam's violent and ungodly beginnings, Muslims will flee the religion because they will be horrified by its endorsement of terrorism, mass murder, slave trading, plunder, kidnapping, and rape. If Muslims & their apologists really want to cure "Islamophobia," here is an easy way. Focus their indignation on Muslims committing violent acts in the name of Islam, not on non-Muslims reporting on those acts. Bukhari:V4B52N268 "Allah's Apostle said, 'War is deceit.'" In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act. - George Orwell "I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them." ~ Founding Father, George Mason, Co-author of the Second Amendment. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24518639 What, you didn't use tor to take the test? Cypherpunks are gonna be the only preppers left when FEMA does their data mining. |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 27698267 11/13/2012 07:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This show and the test is a joke...you don't need all the "stuff" they are marketing. Your best protection in chaos is knowledge and skills. Stock up on books, which not only provide entertainment, but useful knowledge. Other then knowledge there are only a handful of items you need in a "bug-out" situation: (2) fixed blade knives (2) pocket knives Rope and/or para-cord (550 cord) Sling Shot Long Bow Arrows Small Fishing Kit Sewing Kit Proper Clothing for your area Map of your area Manual for edible plants in your area Survival Manual You can get everything else you need from nature. Follow the KISS method and think like the Native American's did and do. Get away from urban areas and keep whatever you are hauling around to a very minimum weight, think ounces not pounds. Also, guns will be useless in an end of world scenario, you'll either run out of bullets or end up ditching them somewhere so you can get rid of the excess weight as you run for your life. Things like a sling shot, bow & arrow, yo-yo's, fishing line (for snares and fishing) will be far more effective then a rifle or hand gun. The nice thing about the "older" weapons is that they are silent...you do not want to fire a gun when you are trying to conceal your location. So with all that being said the most important thing you can have in a "bug-out" survival situation is a head full of knowledge! If you plan on "bugging-in" there is no point in stocking up "stuff" for more than 6 months. Lets be honest here, unless you are way off the beaten path and are completely self sufficient your chances of being able to stay put are very moot. |
