Here is the biggest sign of impending global economic collapse!
Links to the impending global economic collapse...I don't need any! You can see it EVERY DAY on TV!

Did anybody else besides me notice that Christmas advertisements on TV STARTED BEFORE HALLOWEEN!!! They are still running now - before Thanksgiving!

Do you need a "specialist" to tell you that consumer related businesses - stores - are expecting HORRIFIC sales for the year? Stores generally do 40% of their business for Christmas. Most of my life - over 40 years - Christmas ads did not begin in earnest until after Christmas. What does that tell you that stores are seeing and expect this year!

Re: Here is the biggest sign of impending global economic collapse!
Its true you know.

I went to Smyths (a big toy store here in the UK) to get gifts for my nephews and niece last week and almost everything in the store was on sale. Not just a few things to tempt you in, and not just a few quid off either, like a third or half off of most things. If you have to have such a big sale at a toy store BEFORE Christmas then you know things are bad.

Also I have had stores on Cafepress, Zazzle, Imagekind etc for years now. Although I have never made a lot of money from them, for the last few years I've at least made a few sales a day from them in the months before Christmas. But so far this year I've been seeing a single sale per week.

Many retailers are only just hanging on anyway - they were expecting things to have improved by now. Mark my words; come the first months of 2013 we will see retailers collapsing like never before.

Also interesting is that until recently online retailers we claiming that they were almost immune from the downward trends - but I've noticed that has changed. Online, offline, both, it doesn't seem to matter now.

Grocery stores are feeling it too... Here's my thread from last week regarding the ridiculous sales at Kroger!

Thread: KROGER - DFW, TX - MASSIVE SALE (it may be your last chance to stock up with Greece going down the tubes...!)

$.29 a can for veggies! $.29 a can for broth! $1.99 for milk (haven't seen it that low in a year!)

Oh all the stores are trying to get the shopper first before they spend the money elsewhere. In the past Walmarts Black Friday deals etc came out in the paper a day or two before Thanksgiving.Always a big deal to keep it secret.
Well they have already sent the deals out in emails and can see the holiday sales brochure on their site now.
Places like amazon and many other sites are already selling black friday deals for a couple weeks now.
Lot of competition going on this year for the consumer holiday dollars

Walmart had their christmas stuff out in october, give me a break. only a rich middle class idiot would buy that stuff in oct nov or dec anyway. A smart person would wait untill January when its 70% off.

Wal*Mart and a few others are starting their "black friday" sales on thursday evening this year.

And on a non-economic note, the local easy listening station has started playing Christmas music already.
Not intended to be a factual statement.

This fiat economy will implode sooner or later.

Just for the simple fact that this planet can not sustain the endless raping of her resources should alert most people that this is the situation.

The Chinese who have awakened to the new economic boom by themselves use more energy than could possibly be sustained.

Well, I work for a large group of specialty retailers (teen clothing, adult clothing) and we expect a solid holiday season. Up from last year.

Yeah, but they don't ever use the word Christmas. Its "holiday" shit. See if you can find any religious ornaments at all there, only santas, reindeer and snowmen. What else should we expect from a company that gives benefits for queer couples.
