In the 40+ years that I've been alive I've made some godawful blunders that have hurt me and sometimes the people I love, but I don't regret those choices any more than I regret my greatest triumphs.

You see, this is the tapestry of my life - some parts of it are beautiful, some threads are a tangled mess and there are patches where the weaving is fucked up beyond all recognition. Nevertheless, I appreciate every bit of it, because that's how a human life should look like.

The horrible truth about the human condition is that we are truly free. There are no gods, devils or any other absolute moral authorities who'd compel us to do things. It is only us who determine how we live our lives, and the only course of action that we cannot choose is not to make choices. Every day, every hour and every minute we choose, because we cannot not choose. Sometimes we get those choices wrong and then we can only live with the consequences. Of course, you can choose regret, but regret doesn't help anyone. It can only hurt.

I finished grocery shopping, paid, packed the van and got home. After bringing everything inside I realized I forgot to show the case of pop to the cashier, which was at the bottom of the cart.

This happened today and I really feel horrible about it. I told my husband and he said I would be a complete moran if I go back to tell them and pay for it, which is what I told him I wanted to do.
