Quote from a dear friend and fellow Texan:

Can we stop being the punch line, Texans? Please. . . Were Texas to seceed from the Union, the fall out would be devastating. We are a part of the United States and the prominence these extreamly weak arguments for secession are based on ...is directly linked to our great state being a part of the United States.

A new and removed Texas would have to form their own currency, their own military force (do you have any idea how much money is invested in just Fort Hood alone?), support for a new infrastructure. . . the first hurricane that hit the coast would throw us into complete upheaval.

If there are truley 35,000 of us who want to break away then I say ya'll should take up arms and do what you can, strike out and try to take over a portion of Mexico perhaps because that is what a seceeded Texas would be, even in a best case scenario, a group of ill prepared partisan militia members fighting the Cartels and their former government just to barely make it as a third world country.

The remanining 25,639,681 citizens in Texas (as of the 2012 census, I'l bet you dimes to dog houses that number is up from then) who have remained rational and at the very damn least logical in this situation would like you all to remember the words and thoughts of Sam Houston, no truer Texan was there ever born than he, when he spoke out against secession in those years that lead up to the bloodiest and darkest hours in our countries history:

"Fellow-Citizens, in the name of your rights and liberties, which I believe have been trampled upon, I refuse to take this oath. In the name of the nationality of Texas, which has been betrayed by the Convention, I refuse to take this oath. In the name of the Constitution of Texas, I refuse to take this oath. In the name of my own conscience and manhood, which this Convention would degrade by dragging me before it, to pander to the malice of my enemies, I refuse to take this oath. I deny the power of this Convention to speak for Texas....I protest....against all the acts and doings of this convention and I declare them null and void"
