TARGET WORKERS PROTEST WORKING ON THANKSGIVING | |
Kat Mama User ID: 18997681 United States 11/13/2012 02:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | how dare they ask to spend a day rejoicing with there family and friends...they should be more concerned about materialistic fat fucks who need the latest iPhone.. fuck you trin.. ^^This^^ If the fucking corporation would ask for volunteers - and then pay them an incentive - they would not only get people to work, they would get workers who were happy to do it. But instead, they screw ALL of their employees by making it mandatory to work for their fat materialistic corporate asses because they can get away with treating their employees like shit. People need to stop badmouthing the workers, saying to fire them, especially in this economy, and put the blame where it lies. On the big corporate bullies who get to laugh their way to the banks at our expense. |

They're open 24/7 and the pay is wonderful. I was a CNA for a few yrs starting at the age of 16. If people are really concerned about businesses making their employees work on holidays, maybe consumers shouldn't shop on holidays, then the stores would have no incentive to open on holidays. I hear no outrage over the policemen, firemen, soldiers and doctors who never get a holiday off. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1447583 and nurses/med staff/gas stations/etc.... |

green_girl User ID: 23919169 Canada 11/13/2012 04:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have no sympathy for anyone that has to work on thanksgiving day. That comes with the job they accepted. I am even willing to bet that in the interview to get the job the interviewer even asked if they were willing to work holidays. It is a standard question when hiring retail. Everyone smiled and said whatever to get the job, and now they whine. Thanksgiving is a nice holiday, great family time, but it isnt the end of the world to miss it. People see their families all the time. Sur eyou might miss a visit from a relative from out of town, but it happens. They should be grateful for the job. If they dont want it, they can step aside for someone that does. I am so tired of this generation feeling like everyone owes them. They all think they are so special and deserve to get what they want the way they want it. They dont get their way and they strike, lol. Let them. They need a harsh lesson in work ethic. Their employers are going to be open. That is retail. You are open when there is money to be made. People complain about greed, but hey it makes the world go round sometimes. And these employers are trying to shove it to the employee over a day. A day they knew was coming up - it isnt a surprise, there will even be one next year too. :malefav: I love this place!! |

No, I don't expect a hand out, Never did my entire life. In this economy you can't retire - and you can't be picky about which job you take. PLEASE stop judging people when you don't have a clue what their circumstances are. And no - in the interview process, they NEVER said anything about working ON the holiday. Black Friday, yes, but not actually ON Thanksgiving and Christmas day. So again, you do not know what you're talking about. It's people like you with your better-than-others attitude who perpetuate the greed of corporate America. |

When you get taken advantage of by the real world, I will then say to you what you so high and mightily are saying to us. You think I havent been there? That i havent worked christmas da, new years day, thanksgiving day? Of course I did. I did it without complaining or striking. I did it because it came with the job and I had an obligation to fulfil my duties as n employee. Did I like it? Of course not. But it came with the job and I accepted the job. And if i seem to have a better-than-you attitude, do you not wonder why? I worked hard, and it didnt kill me. In fact, my willingness to do my job without complaint elevated me above others that were not so dedicated, and thus led to management positions for me. As for "corporate america" I am not there, I do not feul it or add to it. You are the oes there that shop when you want and demand everything to be open all the time. And before you get all indignant, dont tell me you have never taken a cab, run to the quicky mart for a milk, on a holiday, because i won;t believe you. You expected the people that waited on you to be there, and if you had stopped at a gas station and fond it closed i bet you muttered a few choice words under your breath. :malefav: I love this place!! |
Epic Beard Guy User ID: 26240425 United States 11/13/2012 04:20 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In America, nobody can make you work any hours you don't want to work. If you can find more work, you can take Thanksgiving off. But remember, King Barry has destroyed the job market, so you might want to suck it up and work on turkey day. I worked long hours on turkey day many times in my younger days. I have worked my way up to a job where we don't work that day. Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. Or you could show the food stamp president how much you appreaciate his generousity. I'm sure your family will understand, when Christmas rolls around. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. What my store team members are having a problem with is that they for the first time put a lot of the night crew on the schedule to work customer service that day. They have no experience in doing this and had no warning at all this would occur. I was not on the schedule for that day but if I was I would end up working it. TARGET33 |

geminilion User ID: 12895036 United States 11/13/2012 05:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I remember a time when all of the stores were closed on Sundays with the exception of a few gas stations maybe. I don't see why people can't get everything they need before the holidays so everyone can enjoy being with family. It's all about corporate greed. You can bet the C.E.O. of Target will be with his family. I feel bad because my son has to work so we'll be eating really late. He works for a supermarket chain in NY and he's always working on the holidays. ..."The soul is dyed the color of its thoughts. Anonymous Coward User ID: 25019064 United States 11/13/2012 05:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hell I used to work at a gas station as a night team lead. Thanksgiving day we would split the shifts in half to 4 hour shifts so everyone could be home with their family at some point in the day. I did this for 3 years. Christmas, New Years and Easter were all the same. Suck it up you chose to work retail. Remember in America if you don't like the job, you can find another one. If you don't like the company your working for, there's always the door. On Thanksgiving be thankful you have a job. Having a job isn't a right (well at least not yet, until Comrade Obama has his way and were all working for conscripted labor forces. Yay Gulags!) |

You can't even fully enjoy Thanksgiving day without an early dinner and a nap before a graveyard shift of work. These corporations need to lay the fuck off and wise up. They've undercut each others hours for so long that they've finally crept into Thanksgiving day itself. It's complete bullshit. |
