You are reading into this on the first level, probably to make your bias towards gays visible. Did it ever occurred to you that the general might have decided to resigns so that he couldn't be blackmailed into doing things he was not ok with?

Petraeus is not in the military , he's retired

There is more underlying this story than an affair. He was stopped in his tracks from something he was going to say or do that could have been groundbreakingly bad for somebody.

They created this story to shut him up, and it worked.

i agree, but i will go deeper than that and say petraeus was specifically chosen and appointed to the cia because the obama regime knew ahead of time that they had the goods on him.

people in the regime considered petraeus an enemy. do you remember "be-tray-us" business with hillary and suddenly this so-called republican is tapped to be the head of the cia and privvy to all kinds of secrets?
