all the names for the winters storms have symbolic meaning. its funny that we are naming winter storms now

That is strange OP, many of the names on that list are strange.......greek mythology. Creepy.

Well, there's always been storms up here but for some reason the weather channel decided it would start putting names to large storms this year.
Every winter season is different up here, we can have a lot one year and hardly any the next year.
But we are located in what I call the crucible. I have premonitions that this has just been the tip of the iceberg.

These are the storms foretold in Mayan Prohpecy discovered in a pyramid in the 1920's.

There are a lot of winter storms (I'm in N. Wisconsin) but I think naming them is just bringing additional attention to them. I think its ridiculous to name them. Its snow, not a major event really.

Don't know about naming them, but Old Farmer's Almanac says it's supposed to be a VERY cold winter up north.

Very cold south, too, but later in the season.

It is a bit colder than average right now but nothing extreme yet. From what everyone has said leading up to this winter its supposed to be a complete package. Colder, more snow, longer etc. So far the weather has just been bi-polar. It was in the mid 60's a few nights ago, then our high was something like 26 the next day and we got snow. Its just been unusual. My Dad is in Texas and has already had a few frosts which seems unusual for them.

Draco..nian...he was a greek legislator..codified laws with unusually harsh punishments. death for most crime and slavery for debtors!

Because nobody cares about greek gods and myths. Imagine they name a storm as Allah or Jesus, will be a contreversy
