Klonopin for migraines?

Sure, the HPA is our Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Adrenal axis. Benzos suppress the adrenal gland function, which have to do with our stress hormones (cortisol) amongst other hormones. When someone goes off of benzos, the HPA (depending on how much suppression there is) can go through a very terrible withdrawal, because the cortisol levels are not functioning normally. If you Bing or Google HPA suppression & benzodiazepine, you'll find many case studies & info related to this.

Trin, clonazepam is a benzodiazepine, it targets the GABA receptor, it has more of relaxing effect, not really an AntiPsychotic effect...

the GABA receptor is the same receptor that is targeted from alcohol...

thats why when you're on a benzodiazapine, you can't drink one or two glasses of alcohol, because it basically gets you drunk.

Women can suffer migraines because of hormone problems. Sometimes they are not getting enough estrogen at the right time in their cycles.

Magnesium deficiency can also cause migraines. That might be something to look into since most people are magnesium deficient.

i was once prescribed Ativan for panic/anxiety, it is more like Xanax than Klonopin b/c it's fast acting. But, they all work the same.

I don't remember those 4 months of my life, I'm serious. I would fall asleep standing up, sleep walk and be told I did crazy things and talked gibberish all night, you name it.


Id suggest against. I am SO GLAD I stopped before it was a big problem.


Now I just use herbal remedies for panic and anxiety, found some really good ones that work wonders.

I worked in the mental health field for 10 years. That is one nasty drug and highly addictive. Stay away from it and all other big pharm pills if you can. Seek natural alternatives and stay healthy.

Most migraines are due to a magnesium deficiency. I'd certainly try that before taking a drug (esp off label)

It is also supposed to be taken for less then 4 months because it is hugely addictive.

DH was on it for a few years for panic disorder. He took 2 mg 3 times a day. I take 1 mg Xanax as needed for my panic attacks (same thing with time).

I have had mine for over a year, but I don't take it all that often, and certainly not enough to be addicted to it. My doc also makes me come in for tests before he'll renew it. I have yet to need a refill.

I'd be careful. And I get migraines. Most of the time Tylenol migraine taken with a cup of coffee when I feel them first coming on can alleviate the worst of it, and usually 30 minutes after taking it I can function again.

Yup, brain damage...Klonopin is a benzo. There are many far, far safer drugs for migraine. Cannabis. Propranolol.

My neurologist actually said there are very few sinus headaches,that they're usually misdiagnosed migraines and the AMA agrees. Anyhoo, Klonopin gives me more relief from migraines than anything else. I don't take it for migraines but imagine my delight when it set my migraine on the run!

No it doesn't. I've taken mild doses for years. No ticks.

I do get migraines, and I have to take Exedrin. I never heard of Clonopoin for headaches, but who knows.
They love marketing one drug for many symptoms so this may be a new thing they're doing.

Clonopin is very safe. Just as with anything else, do not abuse it.

A migraine is exponentially different from a run of the mill headache. Klonopin can help by suppressing over reactions of neurons, which can cause the severe pain of a migraine.
A headache is just random muscle pain on the cranium. That CAN be cured with tylenol, ibuprofen, or asprin. Migraines are in their own boat, the are pretty much one step under a minor seizure, which cannot be treated the way a headache can. Clinically, anti-seizure medication is used to help treat the effects of chronic migraines.

when you stop drooling on yourself go see a chiropractor, a good one, and tell him or her you have migraines, you will have to get set a few times but they will decrease in severity and duration and with maintenance may go away...its all about pressure on the nerves




i use a chiropractor and mine are much less frequent or severe
