Somebody probably cut the fuse down. In WWII troops were scared of people catching and throwing the grenade back (it did happen) so they trimmed the fuse. If someone were to throw that grenade real fast into a building and dive for cover one second delay is enough.

While in the USAF my friend who was in 'nam told me about that trick, they would unscrew the detonator from the grenade, cut it open and pull out the fuse and cut it down to around a second.
He said they "lost" a whole case of grenades where charlie could find them, a few nights later the V.C. attacked the base and he could see and hear the grenades going off in the dark during the attack, charlie lost big that night.

Tragedy on Expendables 2 set as stuntman killed filming explosion scene

An Expendables 2 stuntman has died following an explosion while filming on the Bulgarian set.

Two other stunt people, thought to be Chinese, were injured when the film's second unit stunt team filmed a scene for the sequel in a boat on the reservoir Ognyanovo, near the capital city of Sofia.

The film unit affected is believed to be filming an explosion scene on a rubber boat in Bulgaria in the town of Elin Pelin.


So they were not really fishermen and they were not fishing.
