When you get down to the brigade level/ batallion those cols and lt. Cols wouldn't go along with your soldiers blowing our heads off comment IMO. I would expect batallion commanders to tell their people to stand down. Remember it was low level commanders {I think a cavalry unit followed by an artillary unit} that stood down and wouldn't fire on the peasants that got the ball rolling in the Russian revolution. Can't think of anyone I served with even the psychos that would be keen on taking action against American citizns.
