People have no clue about what cession could mean to their state. You want to cross your states boarder,you will have to get a visa. You want to import food,Congress will have to approve it. You want to sell items made in your state,you might have to pay a tariff. By the way you will need a different currency other than the dollar and America might not take it for trade. You better hope you are a coastal state,but the navy will set up a blockade.

This is not a real union. It is a big corporation with a bunch of subsidiaries. It would be better to reform the original state with the original state representatives. This would be better than asking big brother if we can leave.
