Does anyone want a discussion about the True Sabbath ?
On the seventh day God rested...The 7th day is the Sabbath.
That is, at the end of the 6th day, which is when the sun sets, until the end of the 7th day, when the sun sets, is the Sabbath...Between these two sunsets is the 7th day.(Moses hadn't invented clocks back then so forget about midnight)
The only problem is that the Beast of the book of Revelations
has changed dates and times (Ref. The Catholic Church)
We live our lives on a Gegorian calander which is based on the cycles of the sun. It is a Solar calander. The Sabbath is based on the cycles of the moon and is called a Lunar Calander

The true Sabbath is the one Christ Himself observed while on Earth and His Sabbath is the one you describe, from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday.

We are also to guard the "edges" of the Sabbath.

Those who regularly observe the Sabbath, gain many spiritual and health benefits from doing so.

We all need 24 hours each week when we withdraw from this hectic secular world, communicate with God, and enjoy the intricacy and splendor of Nature (God's Second Book given to us).

Re: Does anyone want a discussion about the True Sabbath ?
It is correct that the original calendar described in the Torah and used by Moses was based upon the phases of the Moon, not a continuous weekly cycle.

The Biblical calendar starts every month on New Moon Day, and the Sabbaths are always in the same place: The 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th of the month. This is why the feast days in Leviticus 23 have a Sabbath on the 15th of the month, and why the words "New Moon" and "Sabbath" often occur together in Scripture.

Today's calendar comes from Constantine, and was refined by Pope Gregory 13. You can see [link to LunarSabbathTruth.info] for more details.

The original Shabath was changed to the fixed, gregorian calendar by Hillel II the jewish Sanhedrin in the 4th century. It always seems to always to come down to the jewes.

Re: Does anyone want a discussion about the True Sabbath ?
while i don't think this is make or break for eternal life, I do try to always honor the Sabbath on the true 7th day: Saturday (or sunset friday to sunset saturday)

there are only 10 commandments and it seems like a simple thing to honor the Sabbath properly...

I have a book about this... God gave us the Sabbath as a gift to humanity... and to honor Him...

it has been corrupted for same reasons most of the institutions have been: to separate us from God...

this is where the corruption begins, in most Churches, IMO... but Christ seems pretty clear, too, that rules and laws can separate us from God as much as bring us closer to Him... when we live for rules and forget God, we have defeated the purpose of the rule to begin with and it might be better not to follow the rule or anything that makes us more egoic and less connected to God...

nice thread idea!

The weekly 7th day Sabbath is to commemorate creation and the Creator as it says in the 4th commandment. The Sabbath is not based on any calender rather the seven day week.

Re: Does anyone want a discussion about the True Sabbath ?
Its true the sabbath, the 7th day is the only day God blessed and sanctified. It is as real today as it was the creation week. It is the sign between God and his puerile that he us their God. Since God is not the author of confusion, the whole lunar junk is just another deception of satan in these last days. The Jews have kept the sabbath from the beginning and its sundown Friday to sundown Saturday period.

Jesus said if you love me, keep my commandments. We don't keep his law to be saved we keep it because we ARE saved! Doing what God asks is a joy when you love him, not a hindrance or burdensome

That was not one of Jesus's commandments, it was Torah Law.
Jesus taught this:
Mat 12:2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.

Mat 12:7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.

Mar 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

Yet you still do not understand His words!

Re: Does anyone want a discussion about the True Sabbath ?
>>...The Jews have kept the sabbath from the beginning and its sundown Friday to sundown Saturday period. <<

>> ... The Jews ... <<

You mean the Pharisees, the members of the tribe of Judah who were captive in Babylon?

Mark 7:6-8
He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. 7.8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, ...

>>... its sundown ...<<

Really? Does it start at sundown? Moses thought it started at the morning.
Exodus 16.22-27 And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. 16.23 And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning. 16.24 And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein. 16.25 And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field. 16.26 Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none. 16.27 And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none.

>> ... Saturday ... <<

Every Scriptural reference that has a date attached to it, or whose date can be found from the context, shows that the Sabbath is on the 8th, 15th, 22nd, or 29th of the lunar month.

The day called "Saturday" can fall on any day of the lunar month, including the first day of the lunar month. This list of offerings show that there are different offerings for the New Moon and for the Sabbath.

Ezekiel
46.4 And the burnt offering that the prince shall offer unto the LORD in the sabbath day shall be six lambs without blemish, and a ram without blemish.
46.5 And the meat offering shall be an ephah for a ram, and the meat offering for the lambs as he shall be able to give, and an hin of oil to an ephah.
46.6 And in the day of the new moon it shall be a young bullock without blemish, and six lambs, and a ram: they shall be without blemish.

There are different offerings, because there are different kinds of days: New Moons, Sabbaths, and Workdays. A New Moon day cannot be a Sabbath or a Workday. The fact that the moon can be "new" on a Saturday proves that Saturday does not agree with the calendar of the Hebrew Scriptures.
