Anonymous Coward User ID: 25889905 United States 11/13/2012 09:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Weird. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13540603 I just saw a thread on here about a rainbow in the night sky. I went out just a few minutes ago to let my dog do his business. I looked in the northern sky and there is a rainbow and it is dark also looks like a sunset but in the north. It is 10 till 10 here. Looks very strange and I can not find the other post I saw. Are you in a northern state? Could it be an aurora? Is it raining at all? |

Did it have a dark cloud underneath as well? Seemed to get brighter for a bit too. Wasn't aurora borealis or the moon but was something we have never seen before. |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 13540603 United States 11/13/2012 10:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That's def. the aurora. How can you see it all the way down in NC when I can't see it here in NJ?? I don't know. Just know I went out side right around 10 pm and was like cool sunset. then I said wait it's 10 pm. Then I was like it's in the N-NW sky. Plus it's cloudy. |

ExoPoliChick User ID: 12909685 Canada 11/13/2012 10:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just a quick update. Bright green aurora is now visible to the north here in Eastern Ontario, Canada. If you are located in the northern tier of the USA, Canada and Europe, you should be now looking to the north. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Resident Led Zeppelin Expert (ask me anything!) I'm well north of you here in NJ but I can't see the horizon due to trees/bldgs, so maybe that's why i can't see it? It is cloudy here too, and tons of light pollution by my house. But IDK? |

Hey OP just a quick thought, is there any way there could be multiple transformers blowing near you? If the colors are intermittent it would remind me of what the sky looked like here when Sandy hit, transformers blowing left and right, blue-green and red. But if it's constant, then I can't imagine what else it could be aside from the aurora, and there is a geomagnetic storm going on right now. |
