Re: Night rainbow
Precursors to the December 1811 New Madrid Earthquake...

Earthquakes

Ashville, N.C., December 19 [1811]

To the Editors of the Raleigh Star.

Gentlemen, - I take the liberty to transmit the following account of an earthquake, which happened on the night between the 15th and 16th instant. For several nights previous, the [1]Aurora Borealis brilliantly illuminated the the sky with its trembling coruscations; [2] the late appearance of a splendid comet, and the [3]blondlike colour of the sun for several days, had alarmed a great many superstitious people. They taled of war, and when the news of governor Harrison’s dear bought victory arrived, it brought to their recollection all those appearances, which are still believed (as these are now) to have been the awful precuriers of that bloody war, by which we gained our independence.

[4] On September 17, 1811 there was another solar eclipse—which, again, was predicted by The Prophet ["Tecumseh was a Shawnee Indian leader whose name meant “Shooting Star” or “He who walks across the sky.”].

Re: Night rainbow
I only posted in threads kinda related.
I know there is no doom and I know what an aurora is.
I just thought it was cool to get one this far south.
Just having some fun.

But on the other hand I do know something is coming, just don't know what.

I agree with you and I had been reading about the 1811 earthquake yesterday- since a few things seemed similar- I threw it out there.

Peace

Things are picking up a bit, My GF in feeling it too.
Everyone keeps telling me this is a aurora. Yes I know that.
But how often do you get to see one this far south, for over 2 hours?

We had a strong geomagnetic storm. Reports of seeing it in Oregon. It is always possible to see an Aurora anywhere depending on the geomagnetic conditions. The carrington event displayed Auroras as far south as Cuba. So anything is possible. :)

Re: Night rainbow
I've been seeing the same thing down here in Florida, but a more faded version of it. It's somewhat foggy tonight, so I just assumed it was street lights reflecting off the water crystals in the fog, but it looks just like what OP posted above.
