people should be a lot more worried about what's contamining our water supply:
estrogen hormone leaking into waterbed from birth control meds but a bigger problem is the environmental estrogens- man-made chemicals that are estrogen-analogs, many of which are compounds found in plastics like BPA (bisphenol A).
Why?
-It's making girls reach sexual maturity earlier and earlier- average age of menarche (first menstruation) has decreased by around 4 years in the last 100 years (same with average age of thelarche- when breast start to grow): [

-there is an increased risk of developing breast cancer the earlier a girl reaches menarche (because her body is producing estrogen for a longer period of time).
-estrogens in the water are emasculating boys. young boys are exposed to estrogens, which affects their mental and physical development.

-estrogens in the water supply can be linked to rise in obesity rates.
-estrogens in the water supply can be linked to increased risks of cancer.
