You don't know what you are talking about.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27729528 And you don't understand what INTENSIVE is.
They can produce some food, to feed about 60 mil people/year.However, they kinda have like 150 mil people alltogheter? If they need to FEED their whole population, they need INTENSIVE agriculture which they CANNOT because their land is NOT THAT GOOD.
Quoting: recollector Where do you get your "information" from?
Germany produces enough food since decades.
The fertilizer was invented in Germany.

On this chart, who represent cereal production :
-Germany is #119, with 92,000 metric tons.
-France is #86, with 105,000 metric tons.
-Spain #74, with 109,000 metric tons.
-Italy, #94, with 101,000 metric tons.
-Greece, #91, with 102,000 metric tons.
-Ireland, #78, with 107,000 metric tons.
-Germany produces 92,000 metric tons, have a population of over 81 million and 357,000 square km.
-France produces 101,000 metric tons, have a population of 60 million and 643,000 sruare km.
-Ireland produces 101,000 metric tons, have a population of 4,5 million and 70,000 square km.
Is this ENOUGH proof that the land in Germany and France is NOT suitable for INTENSIVE agriculture?
In terms of production/habitant or production/square km., Germany + France are DWARFED by Ireland + Greece and are crap compred to Spain + Italy.
I am not saying that France or Germany are not producing food...I am saying that they CANNOT FEED THEIR OWN people (unless heavily importing from the south and eastern EU) because their LAND is not good enough to do so.
