Foxconn has been planning to buy 1 million robots to replace human workers
Foxconn has been planning to buy 1 million robots to replace human workers and it looks like that change, albeit gradual, is about to start.

The company is allegedly paying $25,000 per robot – about three times a worker’s average salary – and they will replace humans in assembly tasks. The plans have been in place for a while – I spoke to Foxconn reps about this a year ago – and it makes perfect sense. Humans are messy, they want more money, and having a half-a-million of them in one factory is a recipe for unrest. But what happens after the halls are clear of careful young men and women and instead full of whirring robots? What happens to China’s “burgeoning” economy?

Well now you'll need technicians to tend to the automation and maintanance of the robots. These people will generally get paid more, bu there will be less of them.

Also, this is the general direction we should be moving. We should be finding ways to keep humans from working meanial jobs. We should't pride ourselves on spending 1/3 our life working, 1/3 sleeping and only actually enjoying 1/3 of our life.

Yeah, it would of been better if they stuck to hiring 12 year olds to do the work for peanuts.

Re: Foxconn has been planning to buy 1 million robots to replace human workers
having robots do the manual labour jobs, does NOT have negative effect on the economy,. It actually vastly increases the human populations quality of life, freeing them up to work far less of the time.

At least in theory this is what should happen.

Your country is still able to produce, and the government should easily be able to use such profits to provide its population with food water and electricity, REGARDLESS if they are slaving a way all week or not.

Its true. you just dont comprehend the logic yet.

You can use this (wrong) logic in places where the population is relatively small. Now, in a 3 billion people country, the scenario changes.
Take a simple example: Imagine that 1 robot, takes the job of 2 workers. This robot, will work day and night for no salary and will still produce, that's correct. The problem is the whole chain that was linked to these 2 workers monthly pay. Not unusually, these 2 workers had families(with at least 3 more members) depending on this money. Well, without this income, these family members will have to go some other direction to make money. Not unusual as well, that crime is the way out.
Now scale this to maybe 1 billion workers unemployed. This is a HUGE problem. The country will still sell, the production will even increase and prices going low(due to robots producing things for less money), will increase the sales even more, but the money will NOT GO TO THE PEOPLE, this money will go to a small elite, that will become even more wealthy, while the people, the average people, struggle for surviving.
There will be, lets say, in the best case scenario, 500 million people without a job. Tell me how this is not logic...

yes, we all are - driven by our spirit - we humans use "thought controlled" robot bodies - move your arm, rion tight now, go ahead, notice all you do is "think it into position" (thought controlled robot)

I have to write code and also motion path teach, set parms, debug it all, bla bla

definitely not cool human robot "thought control" User interface (yet :-)

yea, we are all robots - the body is made of "dirt" by the way

In a perfect world, robots would at least be able to take on the dull work of making ... new iPhone does not mean data costs will get cheaper for consumers :-).

So? If it were not for the inept way in which we choose to use or gain money then having technology for service would not be a problem. Anyway, when was the last time you even got customer service anywhere that was worth while? I say robots can do it better, they are hard workers and don't need health benefits our an hourly wage and one man can maintain several. Sounds like a dream that could have been realized a long time ago if people realized they could survive without all they have been brainwashed into believing that they need.

Soooooo the workers get fired and have no money to buy what the robots produce. Brilliant.
