I'm not racist, but...

I lived in a primarily Mexican neighborhood. It started out white but went Mexican. Being in Texas you are always around Mexicans anyway. They were pretty nice and Mexicans watch their neighborhood like hawks. If any dirtbags happened to come into the neighborhood the Mexicans had eyes on them. I liked that. Plus they mowed my lawn so I didn't have to have a service come do it. The Tejano music and partying late at night bugged me at first but I just drank beer myself and joined in now and then and it was fine. I'll take hard working,family oriented Mexicans over a few other minority groups anyday.

It's called population growth...OK. 30 years from now,"THANK GOD I'LL BE DEAD" It will much worse for the whites and blacks of this country. America died a long time ago, we are just going through the motions of dying and hanging onto old memories.

I mow my own lawn by the way. These lawn services are not cheap. They are so expensive that I would think some out-of-work Americans could and would want to compete.

The US is the only country in the world stupid enough to welcome illegals with welfare, ss, scholarships (yeah u can be illegal and get one) driver license, voting privileges, food stamps, etc. I've only scratched the surface.

I live in a multicultural neighbourhood. We get along just fine, I don't have any pre-concieved ideas on my neighbours, we get along, it makes life simple and pleasant.

The America I read being discussed on this board is not the real America and never has been. The media didn't focus on the negative stories in the 40's and 50's because they just got out of half-a-century of war, famine, and disease. The media was even more biased and bought off than it is today. Television was more of a media escape than today; the Cleaver's didn't exist; Father didn't always know best; but I will admit that it seemed people WANTED to behave better.

Television today are reality shows; the American public wants to believe that they are better than Snooki and the rest of the Jersey Shore crew, or the psychotic contestants on the rest of MTv/BET/whatever it is that Latino's watch reality show lineup. The message to men and women is to be a stupid, drunk slut and you will get paid and be famous.

This is the same for Whites, Hispanics, and Blacks. The whole Psy Gangnam Style thing was a riff on South Korean decadent culture so it's going on over there, too.

*I live in Texas as well, and I TRY to hold people to the same standard. Talk to any police officer (of which I have many friends and family members who hold various positions throughout the force) or fire fighter and they will tell you that horrible stuff happens in every neighborhood, in every town, in every single country.

I will say that it does bother me that as a whole the Latino groups do admit that they're only here for economic reasons or to escape the drug cartels.
I have NO problem providing refuge from the drug cartels, with the exception that it has a tendency to bring them to town. I know people in Brownsville who say it's getting more and more dangerous and are moving here to North Texas to escape it.
I do wish that if people are going to choose to raise their children here and to permanently live here, then they need to accept that they are AMERICAN. Not Puerto-Rican American, African-American, German-American, Italian-American, Irish-American...you are fucking American. Get over it. Have pride in where your ancestors came from, but have pride that you are American as well.

I would trade spots with the OP in a heartbeat! I live in upstate NY in the second poorest county in the nation which also has the highest taxes in the nation. Here, the Arabs and Indians (red dot not American) have taken over everything. Literally.
