About the quality of threads on GLP

What is, in your opinion, the core purpose of GLP? In other words, what are acceptable threads to you? Conspiracy theories, aliens, fringe science, religion, politics, or what?

People are complaining more and more about the sex and nobody threads, but what disqualifies these topics as legitimate discussion? One argument is that they distract people from the MORE IMPORTANT topics, but at least to me it remains a mystery what these more important topics are and why they should be considered as more important than, let's say, nobody threads? You may think that the sex threads are just troll filth, and they often are, but I find them at least entertaining - much more entertaining and interesting than Nibiru-nonsense or bitter men with no self-esteem ranting about how women should still be kept barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.

Christian threads may be interesting and important to you, but I find religions ridiculous, obnoxious and total waste of time and front page real-estate. So, the next time someone creates a Jesus-thread, or makes a comment about Jesus, should I accuse them of being Christian disinformation agents, who are distracting the audience from the MORE IMPORTANT threads like fringe science or conspiracy theories, or derailing a thread with religious nonsense?

Of course not. I will simply ignore that thread and click on the threads I am interested in. I sure as hell won't post in that thread to complain, because it's just giving it more visibility. If someone posts about Jesus in a science thread, I pity the delusional fool but let it go.
Sex and nobody threads are distracting you only if you let them distract you. It's you who agrees to be distracted when you click on that link. I don't know how you manage in life if you're unable to ignore news, people or events that annoy and offend you. How do you manage to use the internet, if you get distracted by material that offends or disturbs you? So what if the threads you consider obnoxious are momentarily on the front page? Either they won't attract attention and will fall off the front page, or they remain there because sufficiently many people find them interesting or entertaining enough. Who are you to say that a nobody-thread shouldn't be on the front page if people clearly want to keep it there?

Ok, your next argument is that normal users don't want to see these threads on the front page. They're there because a group of shills or disinformation agents (possibly hired by some neferious cabal) are flocking to GLP to start troll threads either to lower the average quality of posts, discredit the site or to bury information that the the-powers-that-be want to keep secret. Here we are getting very close to borders of the la-la-land and need to apply the Occam's razor. Alternative 1: there is a cabal that directs disinformation agents to GLP for the abovementioned reasons. Alternative 2: a lot of bored people around the world have realized that GLP has a relatively relaxed moderation policy (apart from the IP bans that are easy to circumvent) and they're taking advantage of it to rile up people for entertainment by posting fictional sex stories, playing the role of a time-traveller or ascended master, or bashing David Wilcock. Now, which one of these alternatives is simpler and more likely?

By the way, "shill" is another GLP term I've grown to hate. Here it seems to mean a person who disagrees with you. You don't even have to consider his facts and opinions, when you can just tag him with the "shill" label and hope that the mob of the similarly minded users will take care of the rest. Make your case, present evidence and if he doesn't accept your evidence, just agree to disagree and let it go.
