Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra said 19 others were wounded by Israeli fire in the border area.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri accused Israel of violating the Egypt-mediated truce and said the group would complain to Cairo. "We will contact the Egyptian mediator to discuss the incident," he said.

The IDF says around 300 people approached the border fence east of Kahn Younis and some tried to break through. Israeli troops then fired warning shots and after these were ignored they shot at their legs.

A number of others suffered gunshot wounds.

And why the hell is reuters showing an empty Tahir Square when there is still a war going on in Gaza? It ain't over yet.

I hope the little GLP server hiatus' is over for now, because I missed my Gaza updates all night, and to be honest, you just don't get the in-depth minutiae anywhere else like you do on GLP.
I agree that this still bears watching, even though there is a "cease-fire" at the moment, you and I know it won't last. Egypt is ready to blow again, I think, and the effect remains to be seen.

According to Israeli army figures, Islamist militants in Gaza fired 1,506 rockets at Israel in eight days. Eight hundred and seventy-five fell harmlessly into open areas like fields and the sea. The Iron Dome is programmed to let those alone and to intercept only rockets that would hit urban areas.

So that would be 631 headed for populated areas and 530 were knocked out and 100 got through and the misses would also be 100 and they would have landed before exploding. Any news releases that document 200 hits near populated areas??

This cease-fire was set up for failure.

I was about to say a condition to the ceasefire was to stop Arms smuggling into Gaza

but at the same time does it say they are not allowed to manufacture arms ?

if they get recognition doesn't that make them a separate country meaning they could in fact manufacture their own arms and trade their Arms as well meaning it would no longer be classed as smuggling.....

I am beginning to think last weeks Israel/Gazza was a huge set up for the battle ground to take place in Egypt to include Syria... Then to Iran.. Awfully funny last year when the Iranian Battleship went through the canal to Tartus..
