Tarfon, on a scale of 1 to 10, how disappointed are you of the outcome of the "Pillar of Defense" operation !?
 Quoting: subzero86

Hi Subzero!
I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole ceasefire because it just doesn't make any sense; at least not on the surface. You don't mobilize 70,000 troops and assemble a vast array of tanks, APCs, artillery, aircraft etc., just to let it sit there and wither on the vine. And this after successfully softening up the enemy with air and naval bombardment for 8 straight days. My only guess as to why the brakes were slammed on the invasion is that there is something much, much larger going on behind the scenes that we, the little people aren't privy to. It's the only thing that makes any sense. So what could this 'something' be? My guess is the US told Israel to back off or else 1) they will not get a green light to take care of Iran with US backing and 2) the US will withhold it's veto on the Palestinian statehood bid. Further incentives could include keeping Egypt on a leash by inserting US troops in the Sinai (which is rumoured to be happening soon) and taking care of the northern front (Hezbollah et al) when SHTF.
This is all conjecture of course, but unless someone can come up with a better scenario it's the only one that makes any sense to me.
 Quoting: my 2 cents

and if you add the cost of doing all of that to do nothing in the end the ceasefire literally went from not a chance in hell to a result
 Quoting: Anderson_G

Ya, a result that makes some, if still very little sense in the overall scheme of things. Truth be known I'm still just grabbing at straws to tie this all together.

...

does that mean Egypt essentially has no government ?
 Quoting: Anderson_G

Yeah, actually, it really doesn't.

There's an elected president and an elected Shura council, a Cabinet, and governors and, hmmmmm, that's pretty much it.
 Quoting: AWFEKKIT

hmmis it actually effective because we only hear of the bad things on here does the system actually work well in this period in time ?
 Quoting: Anderson_G

It does, all things considered. I'm sure the media is full of non-stop coverage of Tahrir so it looks like the place is in complete chaos all of the time, but it's not. Part of it is because the people who actually do the work of the government on a day-to-day basis (the clerks who stamp the papers, the teachers who teach the classes) are still there, doing what they do. The people at the top are what have changed.

Is it perfect? No, because it hasn't settled down yet and, more than anything, the power plays and looming "sharia" aren't going over well in general and people are just plain tired of it.

Other than that, people get up in the morning, go to work, earn their living, and so on.
 Quoting: AWFEKKIT

well I have to say good on you all from what the news and 90% of the posts even one I put up the other day are one sided and depict a view of absolute chaos.....

respect goes out to your country for doing so, I hope it does work out for the good at the end of it all.....

thank you clearing that up for me take it easy cheers

1- The Gaza-Hamas front has been pretty much neutralized.

2- Egypt/US/NATO will police the Sinai border and hunt down the arms supply routes and stockpiles.

3- Mursi, installed by the West, will pretty much take Egypt out of the equation.

4- NATO intevention in Syria is a done deal. Just preparing the public and the justification.

5- Hezbollah is fighting the rebels in Syria. A NATO defense of the rebels would mean attacking the Hezbollah fighters. This would make Hezbollah camps, arms dumps and command structures in Lebanon legitimate NATO targets.

6- Sudan has been publicly outed as a supplier of arms and supporter of Hamas. Concequences will follow.

So in about two months Iran will have lost Hamas/Gaza, Hezbollah/Lebanon and Assad/Syria.

I think Israel played this game very well.

Very true, but this is just the beginning. A preperation phase. Israel is mobilising it's force for a reason. Phase two will probabley begin after US/NATO deployment to the region.

the only thing I can think of to explain is fingers in pies someone does a favour for a favour for a favour in order to gain something from that......

what is another matter but I do believe the next event that kicks off may be the final nail in coffin if Bibi doesn't protect his people they may rise against him.

Or could it be to do with election fixing who has the greatest influence who picks who is next in a countries office it really can't be the peoples choice Look at all the fuck ups we call governments in the world today, it wouldn't be the first time a government has been installed to suit a countries interest.

I agree...

I believe there is something much more sinister going on behinds the scenes and it has to do with U.N Palestinian vote coming up on the 29th...

If Palestine is granted observer status then it will be officially recognize by the U.N as a sovereign state...

With the Palestinians having observer status they could join the Law of the Sea Treaty and effectively end Israel’s blockades... This treaty also gives the Palestinians full sovereign rights over its airspace...

In short this will free the Palestinians from all commitments and agreements it has made with Israel...

ISRAEL WOULD NOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN...

This is why I believe the ceasefire is nothing but a dog and pony trick and is a set up to something much larger...

There is a very good chance that SHIT WILL GET REAL by the 29th...

Clinton warns Netanyahu not to punish Palestinian Authority for UN bid

Clinton told Netanyahu he should examine how to strengthen Abbas now, especially after the operation in Gaza, which brought about the strengthening of Hamas among the Palestinian public.

Two senior Israeli officials and an American official, who asked to remain anonymous due to the sensitivity of the subject, said the American message to Israel was not to take any irreversible actions and to act wisely the day after the UN vote.

The Obama administration thinks it is necessary to try and minimize the potential damage of the Palestinian move in the UN, said the U.S. official. Extreme acts by Israel the day after will not help, they will only make the situation worse, he added.

Clinton told Netanyahu that such punitive steps against the PA would only weaken it, which would not serve Israeli interests, said a senior Israeli official. Clinton emphasized that steps such as annulling the Oslo Accords or freezing Palestinian tax funds could bring about dangerous consequences, including the collapse of the PA, said the official.

Does anyone think that Arafat exhumation and the likely probability to prove he was poisoned (likely by Mosad) will mean anything?

Both Fatah and Hamas will have a casus beli (the killing of PLO leader)...but will they do something?

Will the cease fire resist if Arafat will be proven to being poisoned?

anyone think it's a little suspicious morsi makes a power grab the day after he met with clinton?
 Quoting: tarfonwxx

For me nothing could be more suspicious than what BiBi did or should I say didn't do, after he met with Clinton !

I still can't believe he didn't go into Gaza !

Two days ago a colleague called me a "pussy" and said he really didn't expect the Jews to be afraid of a few barbarians with Ak-47s.

I must admit, BiBi has disappointed a lot of people around the world with his decision and Israel's image had a lot to suffer !
 Quoting: subzero86

Consdering that most people are MORONS who think it's "cool" to watch War on Live RT feeds... and think IDF are "pussies" for not "wiping Gazans off the map"....

Bibi made the right decision, perhaps the ONLY decision available to him after Hillary paid him a visit.

Remember, all the Cubicle-Commandos who are egging Netanyahu on to go to war... would be the FIRST ones shitting themselves when their WELFARE checks get slased, the price of GAS at the pump goes up by 50 cents... and/or they are told that they are getting downgraded from full-time to part-time at the job ----> all because the economy has taken a hit as a result of larger hostilities in the Middle East.

I still say that all of this Arab Spring shit was orchestrated by TPTB in order to put Islamists in power that would put pressure on Israel to back off Iran.
 Quoting: Éireann

I've been saying that very thing for months, and it seems no one wants to hear. Obama's Administration has definitely been instrumental in the formation and growth of the Arab Spring movement since they began such in Tunisia.

This is nothing less than Obama doing what he can in order to promote the onset of the Caliphate, and the emplacement of The Muslim Brotherhood was a huge stepping stone in that direction.

What really winds my clock is why we have spent the greater balance of the last decade fighting Al Quaeda; the lives lost, the lives ruined, the families destroyed here state-side, and the countless dollars spent. Then this Administration lines right up with them in funding, supplying and supporting Al Quaeda, and it slides right under the carpet because, since it's now beneficial, they are labeled as "resistance" in Tunisia, Egypt, and Lybia. Then it bit us in the rear (again) in Lybia, and you'll not see this go away quietly in Egypt.

Mubarik and Gadaffi were bad people, as is Assad; absolutely. But they were manageable and fairly predictable. Their removal and subsequent replacement by members of MB was no accident, and speaks loudly as to Obama's true alliance - HIMSELF.

The visits to/ talks with Egypt have not been merely circumstantial, however, each were a coordinated move in order to further an alternate agenda of Obama being revered by the international community as a great supported of Islam.
 Quoting: ClydeX

Americans/Republicans/Conservatives had NOONE to blame but themselves.

1) They betrayed Bush, Sr because he dared to raise taxes -- and got a political genius like Bill Clinton whose agents were able to infiltrate into every corner of US government, military, etc. Bill Clinton then wrote the guide-book for Obama to follow --- not to mention, Clinton's speech at DNC this year, was what broke Romney-Ryan's back. Clinton is still a very powerful influential figure behind the scenes & through his internation Foundation. Not to mention, he is still de-facto in power because of Hillary Clinton as Sec of State (and who will win in 2016)

2) Republicans threw Bush, Jr under the bus when Iraq war didn't go quite as smoothly as it did in the first 6 months. The Liberal MSM were absolutely rooting for Iraqi insurgents and assassinating Dubya's characyer -- and most Republicans secretly agreed with them, and stayed home both in 2006 congressional elections and 2008 Presidential elections.

3) That brought another political STAR in Barack Obama. Once George Soros, William Ayres, Valerie Jarret and their *(Brussels, Saudi, Russian, Chinese, Venezuelan) maters were able to get their foot in the proverbial door of American power -----> it made it all that much easier for Obama to get his way.

4) In 2012, same story. While Tea Party, Moderate-Establishment and Ron Paul wings of GOP were at each other's throats.... Soros's vote-counting boys in Spain quietly flipped a few 100,000 votes around in Florida and Ohio -----> enter Emperor Barackus The Last.

And now you're wondering what the hell happened to fighting Islamic terror? What happened to the REAL Great America you used to know? LOL, "stupid, selfish, fat-ass" people is what happened. Just like in every empire's decline throughout history.

Re: "Pillar of Defense (Cloud)" - Israel & Hamas Agree to Gaza Cease Fire

Good.

I actually don't mind Assad staying in power -- provided he's learned his lesson and cuts off Hezbolah support.

That way, the jihadi rebels financed by Gulf monarchies totally FAIL... Assad becomes more reasonable and cooperative with Israel.... Syria's already weak economy is in total shambles --- which means that Assad will not be able to pay for advanced Russian and Chinese weaponry anymore, especially now that his biggest sponsor Iran is also experiencing sanctions bite....

And Assad retains control of chemical WMD stocks.

Maybe another year of fighting in Syria will soften Assad up to the reality that Israel is the regional Superpower and that's how it will stay, like it or not, MB or not.

The end.

I don't know if its down to Russia but he has done well and contrary to belief he does have internal support in the numbers and there are a lot of other countries that want him gone.

For people wondering what happened with the ground invasion, I think a lot of good theories have been presented, but I think the main idea is that Obama is a Muslim at heart, has openly said he would side with the Muslims, and is acting as such.

VALERIE JARRETT is his CLOSEST ADVISOR. Look her up, then you will understand why Obama is using his power to destroy Israel once and for all. Israel will be required to openly and willingly DEFY Barack Obama in order to fight for their lives and survive.

Netanyahu decided now is not the time to defy Obama. That is the only remaining mystery in my mind. To be clear, Israel could be attacked from all sides, and Obama can get on the phone and tell Netanyahu: "No ground troops".

Shortly after, Jerusalem and Tel Aviv will be overrun by Muslims and Israel will be history. How far will Netanyahu allow this to go? If left to Obama and Jarrett, Israel is finished within 2 or 3 years max.

1) Of course Assad has (some) support among the population and ethnic-religious minorities! Duh. But fact remains: the economy under Assad was very poor and the country was poorly developed -- most of tghe money was going to Assad's buddies in the elite & of course for the VAST military-security apparatus his daddy Hafez built up to fight the "Ebbyl Juices" :)

2) Another reason Assad is still hanging on, is sheer BRUTALITY. If Israel was allowed to use like 1/2 of the tactics used by Assad to fight the rebels, Palestinian "resistence" would have been ground into dust in the 1970's.

3) And then there is Shabiha, Hezbollah and best IRGC that are even more barbaric and who spent enormous resources of Iran to keep Assad afloat.

4) And then there is Russia and to lesser extent China who not only provide Assad backing in UNSC but also money, weapons & advanced intelligence -- both HUMINT, SIGINT, ELINT, satellites, the works. Don't under-estimate how imporant that is. All while, the Rebels have only recently started to be armed and even then US/NATO has huge reservations now about Wahhabis -- and rightfully so.

This can end in tears for everyone if those Sarin gas and VX agent stocks end up in wrong hands...

And just who was named to oversee the cease fire?

If their government is shaken up, even if by appearance only, just what chance there is no one now willing to pursue oversight of the cease fire?

If the above happens, and such decision of enforcing the cease fire is pursued, how long until they decide to stretch the limits of their perceived level of "control" over Israel?

Just some things to put some thought into.
