no,just a few people i know but cant talk to right now.
planes stopped passing above my house about an hour ago,i live near tel aviv and see a huge portion of israel from my window. no sighns of anything happening.

im going to join the IDF on the 26th,being 18 and all...hopefully the war aould be over by then.

Look, this is the situation, it can go one of two ways. Israel sits back and lets rockets come in and sits back and does nothing...obviously the peaceful Palestinian community will not do anything about it...or they do it for them. This is not an attack on Palestinians, it's on them that they don't do shit about the militants..."they wont, so we will". It is terribly obvious that the militants know how weak the Palestinians are, and take full advantage of this fact.

Thats the only doom for the west. I abhor violence, jingoism, bigotry, etc. but even in the sloppiest, dirtiest, nastiest waste of blood they will kill 1% of the "future martyrs" on the Islamic side. 98% of them will grow up to be generally peaceful people.

Meanwhile the western cultures' birthrates are declining fast.

Me thinks the western intelligence and state aparati are not very good at this game. This goes for Iran, china, sub-Saharan Africa as well.

Key difference:

1) In 2012 Hamas and othr Gaza terror groups like Jihadi Islami, PRC are FAR more powerful & better-equipped than in 2008. Iran has built impressive multi-billion dollar terror network in the midst of THE most densely populated area in the world. Since Mubarak's fall in Egypt, the border has been so porous that advanced Russian weapons have been smuggled in at a huge scale. In 2008, Castlead was a very difficult operation, but in 2012 it's a whole new level of Jihadi-clusterf*ck for Israelis. The world is also not going to tolerate 1,000+ Gaza deaths, which makes it even more difficult for IDF to fight guerilla warfare against an invisible enemy on his territory.

2) In 2008 Israel was led by a reactionary Left-wing clown Ehud Olmert who didn't know what he wanted to do from one minute to the next, as political winds kept on shifting. While Bibi is more talk than action, he is a tad more professional.

So of course the call-up has to be higher. Otherwise, IDF shouldn't even think about invading Gaza with what they had in 2008. No way, it wouldn't be worth it.
