Pretty pointless to turn off the lights, IAF can see in the dark anyway, you'd just inconvenience your own people. Not like the IDF is lined up at the border with fixed bayonets, waiting for the walking artillery barrage, either. Likely they'll hit very specific buildings, won't be much shooting until Hamas tries an ambush or defense.

The Washington Post reported that US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have spoken to their Egyptian counterparts and expressed support of Israel's right to defend itself against Palestinian terror.
