"Pillar of Defense (Cloud)" - Israel & Hamas Agree to Gaza Cease Fire | |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 23427044 11/16/2012 01:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Gaza Offensive: Israel Will Stop Assault During Egyptian Prime Minister's Visit Quoting: tarfonwxx Israel will stop its offensive action in the Gaza Strip during a three-hour visit by the Egyptian prime minister to the territory on Friday, a senior Israeli government official said. Egypt's Prime Minister Hisham Kandil prepared to visit the Gaza Strip in an unprecedented display of solidarity with Hamas militants embroiled in a new escalation of conflict with Israel. "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to an Egyptian request to cease all offensive operations in Gaza during the visit of the Egyptian prime minister there this morning, which is supposed to last for about three hours," the official said. "In the answer that has been forwarded to Egyptians, we've said that the Israel Defense Forces will cease fire on the condition that there won't be fire from Gaza into Israel during that period," the official said. [link to www.huffingtonpost.com] And just how convenient is that? A visitor that creates an element of reprieve that affords Hamas & Co. the day to re-group, re-position, and re-supply. I would not doubt, however, that somehow, some way this gets used & turned to "justify" Egypt/ MB becoming openly involved. crap. my question is, what happens if israel takes a rocket G-d forbid during his visit, i'm sure there are groups in gaza who are not taking orders right now from what's left of hamas' leadership above ground EXACTLY what I was thinking. This has to be some sort of move to get Egypt involved though, as previous poster said. They are just itchin' for it. |

Of course, if they were that good at minding their manners, this entire event would not be taking place. Keep in mind that the majority of Hamas & Co. are pretty rudimentary - they will operate much better in the daylight than at night, especially if the electricity is down. While this does provide a distinct advantage to the IDF with night vision capabilities, the day cease-fire with a State-level dignitary visiting provides an intermission that may well prove a costly gesture of good faith. The up-side is that the IDF, though remaining vigilant, will likely be taking advantage of the day as well. This weekend should prove interesting. Quoting: BrotherNature I got this account, but I still can't PM. It says it's restricted to upgraded members. I like your moniker. Although it's going to make a LOT of people very, um, not-so-super-happy, and is a veritable troll-magnet. Especially the beardos in Teheran :) one way that I know of that counters that..(and would drive the Jihadists CRAZY) is to give that person green Karma "If one understands that socialism is not a share-the-wealth programme, but is in reality a method to consolidate and control the wealth, then the seeming paradox of super-rich men promoting socialism becomes no paradox at all. Instead, it becomes logical, even the perfect tool of power-seeking megalomaniacs. Communism or more accurately, socialism, is not a movement of the downtrodden masses, but of the economic elite." Karma points are an excellent opportunity to communicate, too. Just pointing that out. Any news on Egypt? There was a thread that said Egypt was sending troops to the border, but no link (meaning no credible information). I haven't seen anything, other than mass protests here, in the news, and that the President will go to Gaza tomorrow. good point about karma! hadnt thought of that :) i believe "tomorrow" is friday local time, right? israeli press had an article about recinforcements citing arab media. [link to translate.google.com] i now see it's egyptian PM hisham kandil who's on his way to gaza Prime Minister today (Friday), after afternoon prayers, and the President tomorrow (Saturday).
