I've been in Egypt for most of the past four years and I've always felt pretty safe, overall. But this? This makes me nervous. why are you in Egypt? Work or family? Or did you get lost after the Sphinx tour? Hahahahahahaha! The Sphinx is actually pretty small up close! I'm here for work, the weather, and a lifestyle I could not afford in the US - or the rest of the west for that matter. My children are grown and on their own, so I have the freedom to travel, and I have a skill that is in demand in this region and I'm able to make a good living. As much as I love it here (and I really do; I just stay out of the politics and religion), all of the advantages aren't worth risking my life for. Fortunately, I have choices and I am free to leave. Egyptians are not. They're stuck with whatever comes their way with no real way to get out. If this situation gets any hotter, and I'm quite worried it will, I will be on a plane out this week. |
