I like to think we've advanced somewhat since then. The Palestinians, for lack of a better term, are still people who have been (or were) settled there for several centuries. The Israelis refuse to even acknowledge this fact, despite the centuries-old Arab architecture all over the damn place. You don't just show up, kick out the natives, and force them into a ghetto. You don't run them out and bulldoze their homes and pretend they never existed. You don't continuously sieze ever more land.
