OK. So this is what I take from the recent narrative from the region, I'm not correct on facts, but follow me.

It seems to me that a few hotheads fired at IDF soldiers and injured them. That's bad. Used to happen here in Ireland not too long ago, and I wouldn't defend that.

IDF fired back, fair enough, but killed one of the scallywags. Things escalated from there.

Then rockets get fired willynilly into civilian areas in Israel. Not good.

Now Israel strikes back, killing some military leaders, and some civilians.

Now, it seems it will escalate.

But it's a familiar pattern.

So.
Palestinian terrorists are trying to be terrorists (and failing, usually).
Israel over-responds, ups the escalation.
And the same cycle.

Who wins?

Israeli leaders win because they seem to be strong men protecting their people from terrorists.
Palestinian leaders seem to win for fighting back to avenge the deaths of their people.

And so it goes on. You all know this.

So, OK, my opinion.... both are at fault BUT here is my point:

Israel's population should be in a position to stop this.
How? Force your gov't to stop escalating.

Palestinian's population? That's harder. They live under difficult positions, and their armed forces are fragmented. This is a natural consequence of conflict. I cannot lecture them on peace.

It is only the progressive people of Israel that I can reach out to. You face a long battle for peace. I wish you luck, I really do. I would love to join you. But you need to start.

In the Torah (?), I think they say, An eye for an eye.
In the Christian Bible, they, Turn the other cheek.

That is all I can say.

I KNOW I am not an asshole. Maybe at times immature because of my age, granted... But I don't wish ill will on Serbians, on Palestinian civilians or the Israelis.

Israel paid HAMAS off for years, tried to handle them with gloves, offer truce and helped HAMAS get a hold of even more radical Iran-sponsored Islamic Jihad, PRC, PFLP and newer al-Qaeda style groups popping up during Arab Spring.... But at some point, HAMAS had to be checked. They helped launch not dozens, but 100s of rockets at Israeli civilians in the South, no nation can tolerate that as long as Israel did (10 years) ----> and still call itself "sovereign".

So please get real. This isn't about land disputes, nevermind religious differences. This is about HAMAS wanting Jews to dissappear, to die and drown in the Med.

Why do you think they even call Tel-Aviv "occupied" city? When even Yassir Arafat never dreamed of Palestinian state including (Western) Jerusalem --- let alone Haifa or Tel Aviv!

So HAMAS is basically admitting what we know Palestinians want all along: destruction of Jews and taking of their property as Islamic religion has done for 1,400 years when it dominated the region by force, sword & fire!
