Four rockets that were fired at Beersheba were intercepted. (Ilana Curiel)

An air raid siren sounded in Beersheba, Hof Ashkelon Regional Council and the city of Ashkelon.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15761277

It costs $40.000 per missile fired by the Iron Dome to intercept one every Hamas rocket...I wonder how much longer Israel can take this kind of pounding !
 Quoting: subzero86

Subzero86,

I tried to explain this to you before. Each intercept may cost 30,000-40,000 US dollars, but it's a BARGAIN when you consider

1) Lives & property saved (imagine if a rocket were to hit a CEO of Intel-Israel division and also kill his daughter -- you may have an international scandal on your hands and all kinds of lawsuits)

2) Saves huge costs in medical care & rescue services avoid for the dead, dying as well as serious non-fatal injuries from shrapnel. Easily in millions of dollars when counted surgery, ICU costs + long-term rehab & medication (plus, again, potential lawsuits against Israeli government)

3) The prestige of Israeli military industry, the Iron Dome project in particular. Remember, Iron Dome is very young, developed in record short period of time just over 2 years. It needs battle-testing & modification. For example: the 1st battery was first used in combat in April 2011. The 5th battery has just gone on-line a few weeks ago. Only 2 years apart between them, but in terms of technological capability, the 5th battery is YEARS ahead of the 1st one, in radar, in software, in the Tamir interceptor that can now even intercept larger Iranian rockets like Fajr-5 and Zelzal (remember, Iron Dome was originally only supposed to deal with much smaller mortar, homemade Qassam & Grad).

4) Additional US aid has pretty much paid for most of Iron Dome. So the "real" price Israel pays for Intercept is not 35,000 but more like 5,000 dollars. The rest comes out of the military aid.

5) Once Iron Dome version 2.0 is battle tested against bigger rockets & salvos.... South Korea, Singapur, Colombia and of course US would LOVE to buy it --- so in the end, Israel might actually make PROFIT from Iron Dome.

6) Iron Dome gives Israeli government flexibility to be patient and PREVENTS large-scale operations like Castlead. Considering that between March 2011 and now there have been whopping 6-7 seperate escalations by the Gaza jihadists, with literally 1,000 total rockets fired at Israel.... you potentially are talking about more than 1 Castlead in that time span.

And remember, Castlead alone cost 2 billion dollars in operations costs & paralyzed economy in the South. And of course it led to the libelous Goldstone Report & gave pretext to that cunt Erdogan to severe ties with Israel. So that too carries a big price tag in the longer-run.

Now multiply that by several Castlead-type operations.

You're talking billions of dollars... that Iron Dome potentially saved. To quote Donald Trump, it's "OOOJE".

7) And its experience is proving invaluable as far as Israel's new missile defense system, David's Sling, is concerned. Orinally, Israel was going to RUSH David's Sling or Magic Wand as it's also known in time for 2012. The version would have been far from optimal, very skeletal. But since Iron Dome 2.0 version has shown potential during testing, Israel probably made a decision that they will take their sweet time with Magic Wand and when it's finished in 2014, it will be super-advanced. Win-win situation.

Sorry, I am tired, but something along those lines, Subzero86.

I say they go Sampson and get this show on the road.
Id love if they found a peaceful soltion to thir problems, but no muslim or muslim lover will be happy with an agreement unless it includes robbing people of their land. Or wiping her off the map. You all want to take sides with groups that support radical muslims? Go for it. But Im not.

Sampson is not an option for many reasons ! The amount of innocent civilians killed in such a strike would be unimaginable !

And also the nuclear fallout will rain down on Israeli cities once the winds shift direction !

It certainly is an option.
If they are going to be attacked from all sides, she will use that option. No doubt about that. What would they have to lose facing annihalation from all sides?

Uh, well that's the 6.4 billion dollar Question... it seems.

Because of Israel's tiny size, population, and the double-standard that UN applies to Israel's actions.... the Gaza operation would have to be INCREDIBLY innovative & effective.

Gaza-City makes Baghdad during the height of the Insurgency, look like stroll through Monaco in comparison. It's an absolutel (booby-trapped, RPG and Igla-S riddled) Death Trap for a Jew.

So Benny Ganz, Naveh and Barak better tread verrry carefully.

Fine let the idiots go at it with eachother. I won't be a part of it.

Israel's just been foaming at the mouth for the perfect chance to wipe out Iran for many years. Now they have it, and the world finally sees them for what they really are.
It would be wise for the USA to nullify any agreements we have with them. They're a volatile and unstable nation.
 Quoting: jadksn 27785061

Is it Israel's leaders calling to "Wipe (Iran) from the map"?

No..it is Iran's leader, who believes he can bring the coming of the 12th mahdi by killing all Israelis and Americans.

Israel has the absolute right to defend herself against overt aggression (suicide vests, rockets from Gaza and Golan, etc..)

You think Israel is "staging" this bloodshed as an excuse to attack Iran? This is a distraction KEEPING them from attacking.

If they are so busy defending their own borders (please note that IRAN provides 100% of the weaponry to Hezbollah), they have little time or resources to attack Iran.

The latest round of targeted attacks is a direct response from Grad rockets launched against Israel, without provocation.

So, if the beast offends, cut off it's head...which is exactly what Israel did in that beautifully surgical strike on the moving vehicle containing the terrorist head of Hamas.

Before you go flapping your jaw in hatred, please get your facts straight.

There has never, not once, been an Israeli use of force without provocation and bloodshed by terrorist elements first.

Look it up...you'll see.

But back to the point: If Israel does create several smoking holes in the ground in Iran where their nuke facilities used to be, that is their right, when Iran's "president" has threatened to eliminate the State of Israel literally hundreds of times.

There comes a time when you have to start believing their rhetoric and take decisive action.

What is Israel supposed to do? Wait until Iran launches a nuke against them and then respond with what is left of their arsenal?

Israel is a very small country, and cannot afford to risk a nuclear attack.

They should never have to go to sleep at night wondering if tomorrow is the day Iran decides to wipe them from the earth in some sick agenda to bring about the "12th Mahdi".

Religious zealots in Iran are just that...zealots.

The will stop at nothing until they accomplish their goal...and they keep biding time and building more and more nuclear facilities, installing more and more centrifuges. Why? They don't need nuclear energy plants...they have more oil than they know what to do with, so that defeats their "we need energy for our homes" B.S. argument.

Yes...there may come a day when Israel attacks Iran, and I can honestly say that scares me...but are YOU going to stop Iran from trying to wipe-out Israel?

Is the US president going to do anything to help Israel? No...which is why Isreal's leaders know they are standing alone in a very cruel world.

:idfbar:
 Quoting: Fat Albert

Except, Ahmadinejad never called to wipe Israel off the map. That was blatant disinformation, this information came out many years ago but supporters of the terrorist state Israel still use it as justification of eradicating Iran.
LOL, and you're forgetting that every time Israel makes some bold claim against it's neighbors, Americans die. If your little war happens guess who gets to fund it and die in it? Americans. Every. fucking. time.
And this isn't "hatred". I'm assuming you think me antisemite because I don't support Israel. Whatever, I just don't like seeing my countrymen dying because the idiots in charge of Israel can't act civilized.
 Quoting: jadksn 27785061

Your countrymen? Iranians?

We don't hate the Iranian people, only the "Twelver" antichrist wannabe named "Ahmahinedad".

[link to www.youtube.com]

Oh, and your peace-loving Iranian leadership had two of it's "fighter jets" launch missiles against a US drone in INTERNATIONAL WATERS...and they both missed. What a laugh!

Your "air farce" can't even hit an unarmed drone with TWO fighter jets?

I fart in your general direction.
 Quoting: Fat Albert

Dude, you're talking with an anti-Semitic troll ZOMBIE. There is no arguing with them -- unless you do what I do and just do it strictly for personal amusement.

Funny thing is, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is actually far from the most crazy Islamo-Nazi in Iran.

Compared to the Original Twelver Gan'sta, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini... his successor Ayatollah Ali Khamenei... and my personal favorite Ayatollah Mohammad-Taqi Mesbah-Yazdi -- they make Ahmadinejad look like Nancy Pelosi in comparison!

Nevermind, that there have been at least a DOZEN various Iranian military leaders & IRGC who have explicitly threatened to DESTROY Israel over the years ---> were they all "mis-translated", too by the Evil Zionist Dictionaries????

So you're saying FDR and Churchill... were as bad as Hitler & Goebbels?

That US dropped a few nukes to stop 5 million dead G.I. and 20+ million Japanese that Invasion of the Mainland would have likely entailed... is as "bad" as Imperial Japan treating Chinese, Phillipinos, et al like cockroaches and torturning them in the most gruesome ways imaginable.... are "the same"????

That when UN and African Union was finally fighting Rwanda militias.... both sides were equally evil?

Pol Pot... Ah, nevermind. The sheer Stupid Quotient here is overwhelming.
