Since collapse of the Soviet Union and taking over by former KGB agent Putin they don't care what ever is happening in the region any longer, maybe only in case if they border with that country like Chechnya, Georgia, Ukraine etc for internal security reasons. As for Assad, he is already written off and is matter of time we hear how he ended up his dictator carrier (hanged, shot, imprisoned) in best case for him, escaped. Keep up buddy ;) Dont think so.
