It's no surprise...when the golden horde traveled west during the middle ages, Poland/Lithuania fought em off...but Russia paid a dhimmi and sucked their dicks.

Ding-ding-ding.

Quoted for truth.

Even the Russian all-time mythical hero, Alexander Nevsky and his mostly-exaggerated win over Teuton Knights on the frozen lake.... well, guess what happened after that?

Once Knights left....The great hero Nevsky totally pussied out going up against the Golden Horde and chose to retire. Ahahaha.

(Dmitry Donskoi at least had the guts to go up against Mamai Khan, credit where due, but yeah Russia was enslaved for literally centuties, in fact they had Indentured Servitude or Sefdom until great reformer Czar Alexander II outlawed in later 19th century. But he got assassinated, so that's that then...)

Alexander Nevsky battle is exaggerated as Northern Crusade was not only failing, but also involved treaties with Mongols that were supposed to save it. This is minor battle that is hardly between TOP10 Northern Crusade battles of the time. Luckily it was one of few without the death or capture of Grand Master and was politically correct for the time.

Flag in medieval times means knight with his army usually of 500-1000.

1. 1260 Battle of Durbe, Lithuania-Teutonic Knights, Brothers of the Sword, casualties 150 flags with Livonian Grand Master Burchard von Hornhausen, Prussian Land Marshal Henrik Bote.
2. 1279 Battle of Aizkraukle, Lithuania-Teutonic Knights, casualties 71 flags with Livonian Grand Master Ernst von Rassburg, Danish Estonian leader Eilart Hoberg.
3. 1236 Battle of Saule, Lithuania-Brothers of the Sword, casualties 60 (or 48-50) flags with Livonian Grand Master Volkwin.
4. 1298 Battle of Gauja, Lithuania-Teutonic Knights, casualties 60 (or 20-22) flags with Livonian Grand Master Bruno, Komtur of Viljandi.
5. 1249 Battle of Kriukai, Old Prussians-Teutonic Knights, casualties 54 flags with Vice-Komtur of Balga Johann, captured Marshal Heinrich Botel.
6. 1270 Battle on the Ice, Lithuania-Teutonic Knights, casualties 52 flags with Livonian Grand Master Otto von Lutterberg.
7. 1263 Battle of Lubawa, Old Prussia-Teutonic Knights, casualties 40 flags with Master Helmrich von Rechenberg, Marshal Dietrich.
8. 1287 Battle of Grose, Semigallia-Teutonic Knights, casualties 35 flags with Livonian Grand Master.
9. 1259 Battle of Skuodas, Lithuania-Teutonic Knights, casualties 33 flags.
10. 1270 Battle of Padauguva, Lithuania-Teutonic Knights, casualties 20 flags with Livonian Representative for Grand Master.
11-13. 1242 Battle of Lake Peipus, Russia-Teutonic Knights, casualties 20 flags.
11-13. 1263 Battle of Vangrape, Old Prussia Sudovia-Teutonic Knights, casualties 20 flags.
11-13. 1264 Semigallia-Teutonic Knights, casualties 20 flags.

See, I thought I was right. And I was :)

But then again, while Alexander Nevsky may be overrated, there is a KICK-ASS hilarious old movie about his win over Teuronic Knights by the legendary Sergei Eisenstein, I think.

It's like the "Gone with the Wind" of Soviet cinema. "Go Nevsky go, slay those Wes'-Si'e mothafuckas!"

HAHAHAAH
