That chanting is prayers. NO. What you heard was the Adhan, the call to prayer. Muslims pray in silence. Always. Wow. You've learned a lot about Muslim Culture there in your stay :) Thank you! The Adhan resonates from loudspeakers in and on Mosques five times a day. It wakes me up at the crack of dawn every day. There's no way not to hear it and no way not to know what it is. That live feed was not live; I would have heard the same thing at the same time because all Muslims pray at the same time, no matter where they are in the world.
