Germany would analyze such a request "with solidarity", Defence Minister Thomas de Maiziere said. "I expect that there will be a request from the Turkish government today to NATO to deploy Patriot Missiles to the Turkish border," he told reporters in Brussels, on the sidelines of a meeting of EU defence ministers. "If a partner now asks us for such a measure, it is clear for us that we will face this in an open way and with solidarity." De Maiziere said the German response would depend on the details of any request. "But if we have a deployment of Patriots on the Turkish border then this will happen with German soldiers." |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26206541 There were some rumours on the web (mostly Twitter) stating that Israel would give Hamas 36 hours to stop firing missiles or otherwise the IDF was ready to go in by ground. But they have been saying that they would increase actions and would go in gaza by ground for days now. And mostly Palestinian sources are telling that there might still be some hope for a cease-fire, but that rumour also has been going around the web for days now. All official sources were reporting that talks in Egypt (Cairo) have failed because of demands that could not be aggreed on betwen Israel and Hamas. I seriously doubt that there will be any solution this time. This all just started out at a to perfect moment in time for some of the people that pull the strings from behind the scenes. I doubt any ceasefire would be beneficial to either side. Hamas has had several of its leaders taken out, if they quit, they lose face. Especially since they feel Egypt/Russia have their backs in this. Israel on the other hand would probably feel that if they dont finish the task and make a ceasefire its probably going to be a recurring problem. Cast Lead in 2009 brought no improvement. They know that as much as we do. Besides, any ceasefire/truce terms would very likely include the lift of the Gaza blockade. Something Israel would never, ever agree to at this point. 2 "wars" in a timespan of less than 4 years did nothing to improve relationships or trust between the two sides. That and we have the influence of coming Israeli elections at play here. If the Israeli people feel the job isnt finished and southern israel remains in danger, they will blame the current administration for not finishing the job. All of this leads me to conclude that i dont see any chance of hostilities ending any time soon. If it does, it will be fragile at best, and just delaying the inevitable. |

Announcing it contradicts and ridicules the meaning of "surprise". Barbaric people down there, obviously. No civilization, no gin, no culture, no manners, no style, nothing of the sort, quite dull an experience to watch those peasant fanatics rumble about. |
