Quoting: ClydeX This is a luxury that the US has enjoyed for a long time, and it concerns me greatly as to how the societal climate may likely turn rapidly following should such an event happen. Excellent point as well ! I am quite thankful to my parents and grandparents to have given me intense first hand account of what it was like in Germany in WWII during the carpet bombardments and firestorms. It helps to know what happens to see things quite realisticly when it comes to the possibility of war. The US can be happy not to have had to suffer this horror except once in Hawaii. |

Quoting: subzero86 By the way, is anyone watching that show ? I think it portrays very well what would happen to the US or any modern society once the power goes out ! I watch it, it has flaws. The show could have been a bit more realistic and less drama. Clothing shown would never look like that, building look fresh painted, why do they all have makeup?....the list is endless but the scenario of living without electricity is frightening when you need to survive and thrive. my 2 cents User ID: 26646007 Canada 11/20/2012 10:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think there is one very important thing to mention about a possible all out war in the middle east ! Quoting: subzero86 This generation has not seen real war ! None of us have witnessed what a real all out war, with modern weapons is really like ! What we have seen in Iraq and Afghanistan is the US trying the topple the regimes of those countries ! If the US wanted to level those countries completely, those wars would have been over in a week...and I'm not talking about using nukes, just conventional carpet bombing with a sky filled with B-52s, B-2s, etc ! Just imagine how an all out war will be like in the middle east, when nobody cares about civilian casualties anymore and all countries attack with everything they've got at their disposal ! will make the casualties in WWII pale in comparison You got that right man ! Not even close. WWII casualties were high. We won't witness that in the ME unless it is truly biblical armaggedon. Ya, not total casualties/fatalities compared to WW2. But on a per capita basis, if the Middle East goes full tilt it will certainly be higher than WW2. Just my $0.02 Edit: I meant on a percentage basis not per capita Last Edited by my 2 cents on 11/20/2012 10:06 PM Patriotism is supporting your country always -- and your government when they deserve it. I don't believe you will ever see indiscriminate bombing again. High tech munitions are expensive and highly targeted use is a given. The amount of intelligence required to utilize a non-discriminate attack has to be staggering - that is priceless and an art. Only mass bombing without discretion would probably be in final desperation.
