Maybe someone can answer this, it's bugging me, and I don't wanna read all thousand threads for the answer....
If Bibi is up for re-election, he won't want to endanger ground troops. Won't be popular.
But if he does commit, and Israel take over Gaza, it will be popular.
So...is this his conundrum...either fall back or go hell for leather?
Quoting: superflyscot I don't have a secret window into his thoughts, any more than you do. So your question is entirely rhetorical, but it's really quite simple. If Israel had not been attacked, Bibi would not have retaliated. No matter what you think of him, starting hostilities would not have been popular at all in Israel. But he was forced to react instead, and it looks like he won't be willing to go back to the status quo, and he has popular support in Israel for his reactions so far.
