1- The Gaza-Hamas front has been pretty much neutralized.

2- Egypt/US/NATO will police the Sinai border and hunt down the arms supply routes and stockpiles.

3- Mursi, installed by the West, will pretty much take Egypt out of the equation.

4- NATO intevention in Syria is a done deal. Just preparing the public and the justification.

5- Hezbollah is fighting the rebels in Syria. A NATO defense of the rebels would mean attacking the Hezbollah fighters. This would make Hezbollah camps, arms dumps and command structures in Lebanon legitimate NATO targets.

6- Sudan has been publicly outed as a supplier of arms and supporter of Hamas. Concequences will follow.

So in about two months Iran will have lost Hamas/Gaza, Hezbollah/Lebanon and Assad/Syria.

I think Israel played this game very well.

Good.

I actually don't mind Assad staying in power -- provided he's learned his lesson and cuts off Hezbolah support.

That way, the jihadi rebels financed by Gulf monarchies totally FAIL... Assad becomes more reasonable and cooperative with Israel.... Syria's already weak economy is in total shambles --- which means that Assad will not be able to pay for advanced Russian and Chinese weaponry anymore, especially now that his biggest sponsor Iran is also experiencing sanctions bite....

And Assad retains control of chemical WMD stocks.

Maybe another year of fighting in Syria will soften Assad up to the reality that Israel is the regional Superpower and that's how it will stay, like it or not, MB or not.

The end.

I have to say Assad has done good to still be were he is....
I don't know if its down to Russia but he has done well and contrary to belief he does have internal support in the numbers and there are a lot of other countries that want him gone.

1) Of course Assad has (some) support among the population and ethnic-religious minorities! Duh. But fact remains: the economy under Assad was very poor and the country was poorly developed -- most of tghe money was going to Assad's buddies in the elite & of course for the VAST military-security apparatus his daddy Hafez built up to fight the "Ebbyl Juices" :)

2) Another reason Assad is still hanging on, is sheer BRUTALITY. If Israel was allowed to use like 1/2 of the tactics used by Assad to fight the rebels, Palestinian "resistence" would have been ground into dust in the 1970's.

3) And then there is Shabiha, Hezbollah and best IRGC that are even more barbaric and who spent enormous resources of Iran to keep Assad afloat.

4) And then there is Russia and to lesser extent China who not only provide Assad backing in UNSC but also money, weapons & advanced intelligence -- both HUMINT, SIGINT, ELINT, satellites, the works. Don't under-estimate how imporant that is. All while, the Rebels have only recently started to be armed and even then US/NATO has huge reservations now about Wahhabis -- and rightfully so.

This can end in tears for everyone if those Sarin gas and VX agent stocks end up in wrong hands...
