Exactly. One cable takes 48 hours to replace?. A guarantee you the Russian Military satelites are also down. Right on time for Israel to launch agressian in Gaza. Egypt is now on full alert to. Is it all becoming more plausible now? Expect some movement in the Russian Defense forces soon and escalation in the Middle East. Right now the Bear may be blinded. We shall see what moves are going to be made. |

There should be redundancy in contacting many of teh sattleites though, but to actually control them there usually isnt for security reasons, but like I said earlier, the APRS digipeater on the ISS never went down, I heard it on 2 ISS passes today after this thread was started and it was fully functional |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6191222 [link to en.rian.ru] the original article on Ria Novosti. It's just a cut cable, everything will be restored after 48 hours. A blunder yes, stupid, probably, pin worthy? No not at all. In short, some moron cut the uplink cable. Go about your business, nothing to see here :-) So you say, your probably right but there is no need to repeat yourself. Now about the magnetic field disturbance..... |

Start the conversation > MOSCOW — A communications cable serving the Russian space agency's mission control was cut by construction workers but the accident has not affected the International Space Station or civilian satellites, the U.S. and Russian space agencies said Wednesday. Russian news agencies cited unnamed sources as saying the cut meant controllers could not send commands to satellites or the Russian segments of the orbiting space lab. But Alexei Kuznetsov, a spokesman for the Roscosmos space agency, said communications were continuing by other means, which he did not specify. Josh Byerly, a spokesman for the U.S. space agency NASA, said the Russian space program had another ground communications site in operation and was communicating with the space station via Johnson Space Center in Houston without problems. A Soyuz space capsule is to ferry three astronauts from the station back to Earth on Monday. Kuznetsov said the accident did not affect that plan. The Interfax news agency quoted an unnamed Defense Ministry official as saying military satellites were under control. |

Possibly, but as you know being a ham CE1, the jump in SWR if it was transmitting while the line was caught would cause a huge jump in SWR possibly blowing out the finals on the transmitter |

No width on the reading means the "object" has no size. Therefore, they are catching some other signal. |

Much talk in Russia of why no redundancy for critical infrastructure that could compromise the ISS. |
