absolutely agree with getting a lawyer. my wife is a cpa and fights the irs all the time through the legal system. just because the IRS wants something does not always mean that they get it.

who else is gonna pay for obamaphones and wall mart gift cards if not you and I through our hard-earned income?

I assume you've already attempted a payment plan? If you owe less than $50K or so these days its pretty automatic. Sounds like you need a tax lawyer.

also if you qualify ..you may be able to get into a status 53 (currently noncollectable) but you have to show certain hardship in that regard, but that doesn't last forever either.

Re: IRS Wants Me to Pay $4,730 a Month. What should I tell them?
next time you see or hear from her, just tell her after she gets off work, tell her to go to a bar or a nite club, and for her to ask a male bartender ; wheres the licker in the front and poke her in the rear; get it ?

In my attempts to make things right in my life by being on the up and up with my Shepherds (AKA the US Federal Government), I have been paying my current taxes and also have filed all my previous missed tax returns.

Fast forward to now. A short little chubby IRS agent lady came to my door saying she was just in the neighborhood which I know was a big fat lie. In any event, she has been on my wife and I like white on rice and wants my wife and I to pay the IRS 50% of our income which is $4,730 a Month to pay our back taxes.

I have no problem making payments, but basically this bitch wants my family and I to suffer and live like in poverty until they are paid. Of course I AM not liking her, her proposal or any of it and this goes along the lines of Socialism where our country is at now.

Punish success (making money and a successful business) and reward laziness and dumbness (no job and live on welfare).

You see, if I was not a success, they wouldn't come after me and in addition, I would not have to pay shit in back taxes because I would be collecting welfare and unemployment. What this tells me is that this is the future of our world and that I better get used to this shit. But in the same breathe, I AM not going to allow the lazy or unintelligent just sit on their ass and collect a check.

With Obama, taxes are going up even more and then we have health care on top of it.

In any event, what would you do if you were me and the IRS wanted 50% of your income to pay our back taxes? Is there a better way to deal with this other than bankruptcy?

Glenn Beck has an accounting firm that advertises on his show that deals specifically with the IRS, getting them to reduce the debt owed (up to 90 percent) I believe and setting up payment plans, and dealing with all the specifics.

I would go that route, I wouldn't do it alone.

Get a good lawyer that works with the IRS to reduce what you owe, they are out there. Don't let the Magic Munchkin intimidate you.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1306234

The problem is the attorney's take as much as the IRS. You just owe them instead. And then you usually end up with a couple of years of no payments, then owe the original amount and the lawyer gets your income in the mean time.

I know, I've been there. This country is filled with leeches wearing suits and ties carrying briefcases. With a gun you can rob a bank. With a bank you can rob the world.

I have no problem paying what I owe (even though I was paying and didn't know my attorney ripped me off and didn't do her job and that's what got me in this mess). But if they'd lighten up I'd be back paying their taxes so they can waste my money on more wars and voting themselves raises, and I could be employing at least four more people, helping both the local economy and the feds at the same time. They're screwing themselves, and they don't care about us. None of them do.

My advice for you.

Show sensitivity to people in the future and then maybe they'll show you some sensitivity

Even Narcissistic people can fake caring. Look at all those politicians.

I also suggest you NOT give out so much about yourself on the internet. Hepatitis C = TOO MUCH INFORMATION

Also if you're gonna pretend to be a mason or whatever please act the part. The Apollo guy is a kind caring person who acts the part.

Bankruptcy is not even an option as for avoiding the back tax. The question is, can they demand 50%?

You could just cut them a check for 5-10% every month. Then if they send a letter of demand or some sort of garnishment or bank account freeze you would have a legal appeal process.

I think they can demand 50% from anyone not on a fixed income i.e. SSA.

Here's more:

[link to www.mfi-miami.com]

The Miami Mortgage Fraud Investigation website alleges -- and apparently backs up! -- that our "templar knight's" business model is to draw in distressed homeowners who are behind in their mortgage, get them to register at his website "forum" and spill their personal woes, then "monetize" (ie SELL) their personal information.

Don't fall for it.

A thread like this one here ('I'm behind on my taxes') could draw in people who are likewise deliquent, are behind on their bills, who could be drawn into this exact sort of scam, and have their personal info sold to predators.

Beware!

Apparently OP has been in discussion about the pmt plan and finds it unacceptable. The "penalty abatement" is only for lump sum pmt. You call and agree on a lump sum to pay it off and they reduce the penalty. He should make a token pmt until he is able to comfortably save the lump pmt to pay it off. It will have to be paid.

Re: IRS Wants Me to Pay $4,730 a Month. What should I tell them?
OP,

Many of us have been in similar positions. Its complicated because there are so many variables. One thing I've learned is that if you own property and have equity, the IRS won't want to compromise. Especially if you make a good monthly paycheck. All that BS on TV about owing large sums of money and settling for pennies on the dollar is for folks who don't own property, have equity or make good money.

If you own property and go on a payment plan they will lean your property until you pay them off. Also, realize if you agree to let them have half your paycheck the State will come calling as well. So its not just half your paycheck. You'll be living off less than half.

You need to rethink your position. If there's any possible way reconsider bankruptcy. Yeah, your credit will tank but imagine the pain of paying them for years and having nothing. If I could go back that's what I would have done.

The problem with this issue is that its complicated and there are so many variables that by the time your done and fully understand the rules, its too late because you've already made decisions and signed agreements.

Best advice is to find an Attny who hates the IRS and has a vested interest in seeing you pay as little as possible. Most Attny's don't give a flying fuck about you and will only give bits and pieces of information so that you start making decisions without knowing the whole picture.

My situation was different than yours but I wish I'd set down with an Attny for 6 hours straight and talking the entire problem through A-Z and created a strategy based on all realities. Yes, its going to cost 4-5 grand AT LEAST but you will have made the best decisions based on ALL AVAILABLE INFORMATION. Not just Ad-Hoc.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to find an Attny whose actually on your side. If not, he won't give a fuck and will throw you under the bus.

Good luck man.

Thanks for the honest answer Squatch Hunter and I agree about lawyers for the most part. I have dealt with many over the years from inside and out. What I have seen is mostly negligence from every lawyer. As I stated, I plan to pay and will, I just cannot pay what they are asking. In fact, the lady just called and said levies will soon be on our bank accounts and we have no option.

Moe

I dunno, Moe.

Seems like there is some valid controversy about just how much of a "success" you and your business ventures may be:

Here is the deal with these 'ANONYMOUS' postings and slanderous posting about me on the internet. Yes, I have went to jail and prison for growing and selling marijuana and also a battery case that WAS NOT MY WIFE and all these pictures etc are lies and bogus.

These 'ANONYMOUS' postings with lies and untruths have been posted by loan modification scams companies and mortgage criminals who I have personally went after over the last 5 years while running my forum at www.LoanSafe.org/forum in my attempts to help protect struggling homeowners from becoming victims of these scams.

In doing so, I have become a target of these scammers who post anonymously in weak attempts to destroy my business or reputation. Also, you will NOT find 1 Better Business Bureau complaint, police or actual real complaints about my business anywhere other than a few 'ANONYMOUS' postings on 'ANONYMOUS' websites. The facts are anyone can say whatever they want and people will either choose to believe it or not. In the end, I don't care because the people who believe 'ANONYMOUS' postings from 'ANONYMOUS' websites are ignorant humans who I do not wish to associate with or do business with.

 Quoting: KnightsTemplar.TV

Once again.

Watch the deflection.

Quick to call others "scammers", quick to call himself "successful".

After his own real estate liscense was yanked for moral turpitude.

Quick to post silly pictures and cast aspersions on others while ennobling himself.

Quite the knight in white armor: "my attempts to help protect struggling homeowners from becoming victims" ?

You're not a realtor, not a banker, not an attorney.

Many have called you a scammer and a con man in print. You are undeniably a convicted felon.

And yet you are a "success", and quick to provide us links to your "successful" business?

GLPers, beware this SCAM.
 Quoting: goodmockingbird

The real estate license was pulled for my felonies that I went to prison for. So I lost my freedom and professional license. Hence, I paid my debt in full to society for these crimes.

Do you want me to pay forever?

Do you believe in redemption or that if a man does his time for his crime and does not commit anymore that they can be changed?

Why am I a scam, because I had a felony and now help people with my websites that make very good money?
 Quoting: KnightsTemplar.TV

Because you don't "help" them.

You lure them into your website "forums".

Then they pour out their tales of woe.

Then you sell their personal information.

You prey upon them.

And you have boasted about it in a public forum:

He even bragged about his business model on the website Wicked Fire in May of 2007 soon after leaving prison:
“Interesting thought tho – bear with me – created a website aka loansafe – bring folks there that are losing their homes/loan mods/ ect – make it a public forum – pay it forward – help your neighbor – screw you sister – ect -hence – investors will pay huge finders fees – i just had a brain fart ya know –“

I owe 250,000.00 in back taxes.

I got a lawyer and they worked out a payment plan of 2,000 per mo for the rest of my life. But ironically, after a tax return becomes 10 years old the IRS has to drop it from their system, they cannot collect on taxes over 10 years old!

so over time these taxes will expire.

Get a tax lawyer is my recommendation.

good luck !

Thanks for the comment. 10 years from the date of the year or when the return was filed?
 Quoting: KnightsTemplar.TV

10 years from the "tax year owed".

so if you never filed for tax year say..1985, then the IRS would not try to collect that.

And this is info from my tax lawyer.
 Quoting: SkyNetWatcher07 359818

OK, gotchya. They are trying to collect on a 2002 return and this is 2012 so 2013 they cannot collect on that 2002 return?

Trying telling that to Capone or Wesley Snipes

Action star and noted tax hater Wesley Snipes turns 50 years old on Tuesday. But we're guessing he won't be getting a very nice cake. Snipes, who became a huge star in the '90s with roles in "Blade," "White Men Can't Jump," and "Demolition Man" is perhaps best known these days for trying to avoid paying income tax.

Snipes was initially sentenced to McKeaon Federal Correctional Institution, a medium-security prison in northwest Pennsylvania. He is now at the adjacent prison camp, a minimum security "Club Fed," where he is known as inmate number 43355-018. According to E! Online, the camp houses around 290 white-collar inmates.

In 2008, Snipes was convicted of three misdemeanor counts of failing to file tax returns. He reported to prison on December 9, 2010.

Pay Them. I feel your pain but I had to pay my taxes why not you? If they take 1/2 your income you still make more per month than me so I can only suggest pay your taxes.

a bankruptcy will not get rid of the liability, but may qualify you for penalty abatement, really if you qualify you should go into a status 53, if you want paperwork from me ask Trinity to get ahold of me with your number...
