Thankfully you do need pretty complex math, and creating bomb fuel is not easy, and you need allot more then heat to make it work, otherwise everyone would be doing it.

The story of the development of the atom bomb is really interesting, and calling our efforts 'trial and error' is a major insult to the folks who worked on the Manhattan and related projects. Physicists had known about the possibility of a fission bomb and knew what was needed in order to create the right circumstances. This required allot of physics and allot of chemistry and allot of engineering.

Correction, the windows in very old churches have thicker glass at the bottom, where its drooped down over time.

long long long time ago, in my chemistry class, one of the only things I remember was that

everything is particles floating together in some coherent visable, touchable structure.

The teacher pointed to his desk and said actually that desk, if you were small enough, you could walk through it because it actually isn't solid. It just appears to be because of our size.

I remember this changing my life on how I thought of things. Things are not as they appear to be.

Then being a Christian, my thought was, what keeps everything 'together', from jsut imploding or exploding. Then I realized God keeps every single cell together in perfect harmony on the earth.

I really had a light bulb moment.

The 'fluidity' of glass is some-what of a myth. Glass is a quazi-fluid in that the molecules of glass are not strictly organized into a crystal structure, they are not completely random like a true (idealized) fluid, the structure of glass is an interesting subject.

I believe that the thickness variations of the glass in old windows is related to how they were made, and not due to the supposed flow of the glass. At normal temperatures I believe glass does not flow per se, however some changes must occur over time. I have bought very fresh panes of glass for putting into windows. When I cut the fresh glass, all it takes is the score line and a nice snap, breaks very clean. Old glass, or even older glass as in 10 years or more, does not break nearly as cleanly and requires a much deeper score line to get a clean cut. So there is something going on there but what exactly I dont know.
