This was the very FIRST bill Obama passed back in 2009. It was called the "Give Act" then renamed the "Serve America Act" which was sponsored by the late Edward Kennedy.

I fought this bill from the time it was introduced because I knew it was the first step towards the fall of America.

S.3487 - Serve America Act

This legislation aimed to increase the number of service/volunteer opportunities supported by the federal government. While it did not proceed in the 110th Congress, it was approved by the House and Senate in the 111th Congress. President Barack Obama signed the bill into law on April 21, 2009.

Here is an excerpt from a letter I wrote to my friends regarding the Act back in 2009.

"The title was amended from the “Give Act” to the “Serve America Act.” This is frightening in itself. The “Give Act” sounded as if the bill was a volunteer program. “Serve America”….Well, anyone who has ever served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. understands what the word “Serve” means.

On the surface, Serve America seems rather innocuous and full of good intentions but I view it as a “gateway drug.” It opens the door for the formation of a civilian Army.

HR 645 is the next bill we need to watch. It looks like it will piggy back with Serve American. HR 645 will establish “Camps” or as the bill reads, “National Emergency Centers” on military installations.

In the final language HR 1388 was amended regarding “Prohibited Activities and Ineligible Organization.” (Sec. 132A)
