I'm a fifth generation Texas woman, and if all y'all want to come, that's fine...as long as you love your freedom, hard work, and hard play. Bring your guns, too; I have a feeling we're going to need them soon!

Seriously...probably THE best state in the country for raising a family and "being allowed" to protect yourself!

Stay out of Houston and Austin!
 Quoting: jdb

And Dallas and San Antonio and far SW Texas!

I live to the west of Austin now. It's always the large cities dominated by libtards that ruin your day. Huge double standards with libtards.

y'know, it's kinda odd

We have to live in Dallas bc of work . Personally, I prefer Fort Worth. I like the people

I have seen more cars in Dallas w/Obama stickers on them than I saw in Connecticut when I was up there just recently

Big SUVs, even a hummer, with farkin Obama stickers on them

Are these people nuts?

Talk about chickens voting for Colonel Sanders...

I was meaning to ask someone about that...lol

Obama stickers in Dallas??? The only reason you notice them is because they stick out like a sore thumb.

North Texas, East Texas and West Texas is as conservative as it gets. Houston is messed up since Katrina and Austin is full of College kids from other states.

Remember we are ALL Texans...United we stand...Divided we fall!

Hey Neighbor...My family left Germany in 1848 and entered the USA via the port of Galveston.

Don't forget to tell them to bring their manners too.

Yep, all over the metro area of Dallas

Uptown, Downtown and up by Highlsnd Park, are all pretty much like areas of NY or SF

I'm involved w/ a couple of charitable groups nearby, and many of the women in those groups are very much blue...and they are born Texans, I'd say upper middle class...several of the men as well, although it does seem skewed along sex lines

We were out on election night, at a local bar popular with local kids...and when they announced the election for Obama, some of the kids (guessing 20-30 yr olds) started kissing each other and dancing in the aisles

I have seen it is different in Fort Worth, or even the northern suburbs like Plano or Southlake, fwiw

Glad to be here. I find that when people find you share their values, work hard, like having a good time and enjoy throwing a good party, they're just great

dance

Re: Texas Bill Nullifies NDAA And Prosecutes Federal Agents That Enforce It
South central Texan since 1968, just 15 minutes away from the Alamo.

A word of caution to those moving this far south into Texas.
The north Texas areas are beautiful and have pine trees.
The upper middle is ok too.
The upper Louisiana side is forestry still and nice and green.
The far western panhandle near New Mexico is old hot and dry Indian territory (The true old west you see on TV)
The parts around El Paso, Laredo and Brownsville are super dense with Hispanics and tough land is dirt cheap out that way, it's a very tough life and summer is a killer, think desert, scorpions and rattlesnakes and 100 degrees and 200 miles from now here.

Ok now on to the next Important topic, water.

I'm not sure what is going on in upper 5texas but down here near San Antonio, we rarely ever get a chance to have a nice lawn due to water restrictions.
In most towns here you can't wash your car in the street or driveway and your kids can't play under a running hose in the lawn like more northern states can.
You can't use the garden hose to even wash off your driveway or porch without risking getting a ticket during drought.
If you love dry brown grass then this is the place for you.

Keep in mind still that this far south we use the Edwards Underground Aquifer for our water source and it has parts that run underground and alluvial sands that go all the way into the Mississippi Alluvial Aquifer.
I'm not saying it WILL happen but it is a definite possibility for the gunk and methane found in the Louisiana sinkhole and local wells from their Aquifer to eventually seep all the way to San Antonio. We have had some people able to torch their faucet water in Texas a few years back they blamed on fracking.

BUT!!!
Just tonight I heard the oddest thing that on KSAT news that San Antonio is looking into purchasing a water desalinator.

All aquifers especially near the coast lines have a bottom level that is more saline than the drinking water they pull from higher up levels, bottom salt is normal.
What is not so normal is why after forever is San Antonio going to now all of a sudden by a desalinater being almost 200 miles from the gulf waters?

Could it be that the high pressure and salt and chemicals working their way into the Louisiana aquifer and wells is also showing higher pressure here and raising our aquifers denser salt level too?

By all means, Welcome to Texas. but think twice before moving over the southern central aquifier, in 20 years you might be regretting it.

Oh and they jut raised San Antonio water bills b6y an average of $5 more for every home, so something is in the wind. They just aren't saying yet.
Time will tell.
