You wanna know why all this paranoid, ebil-Demoncrat-conspiracy-to-emasculate-God-fearing-conservative-white-men crapola is exactly that, guys?

Ask a bookie. Any bookie. If you're honestly so twisted up with suspicion about anything - polls, analysis, published opinion - that disagreed with your wishful thinking (i.e. that Romney was good as gold at all points in time and space in the lead-up to the election), then stop and ask yourselves why the bookies were consistently offering odds favouring Obama over Romney 3-to-1 from the end of September onwards?

Bookies are not themselves gamblers. In fact they are the antithesis of gambling men, as of course they have to be in order to succeed at their trade. They don't attach any ideological or emotional significance to any side in a competition and they don't let their own thoughts, feelings wishful thinking or even basic gut instincts dictate or run roughshod over their finely-honed skills of analysis.

If it had been neck-and-neck, if Romney had indeed been cruising to an eventual coronation, the bookmakers would have been cutting their throats en masse. And no amount of angry (if heartfelt) post-election chest-thumping from blinkered Republican dupes, shrieking endlessly about stolen elections will ever persuade me that all the world's bookies were going to happily take a massive hit to their wallets over something as inconsequential as an election.

This is the most ridiculous post. Yes, the bookies made the odds higher for Obama to win. But the way the moneyline works, they knew they would put more money in their own pockets if Romney actually won... You think bookies are honest???????

What's not to be honest about?

Evidently, you either don't understand how making book actually works, or what - you're trying to tell me that all the turf accountants in all the towns and all of the cities in all of the nations on all of the entire planet were somehow "in on it", i.e. your hilariously paranoid if simple supposition that wishful thinking and a whole lot of angry white homophobic and racist Christian men from the rural American south are more than enough to win elections in the 21st century - unless and until some evil/socialist/nazi/marxist/secret Muslim/Kenyan/Reptilian/Martian Overlord decides to undermine and/or overthrow everything good about America (presumably including Mom & apple pie at some point) by orchestrating a fraud the scale of which would require the direct and indirect involvement of tens, if not hundreds of thousands of individuals, along with the knowing silence of of tens if not hundreds of thousands more?

People aren't like that in real life. That's frankly as laughable a notion as the idea that somehow all the citizens of New Orleans could be part of a silent conspiracy to kidnap and kill James Bond in 'Live and Let Die'.

And anyway, as at least one person has pointed out, you're a Canuck (like me). Your insights are at least as welcome here as a fresh cat turd on a cracker. Why don't you try baiting NDPers on the CBC forums like the rest of the Harperbots?
