Were people more evil in the 1700's?

no more...no less. People simply didn't have the communication methods that we have now and many things went unreported. I don't believe that many of the things we've been told have increased over the years have actually changed that much. There may be more crime or whatever as far as totals go year over year but this method of statistics leaves out the factor that population has also increased during that year. If you were to compare the actual percentage per capita I think you'd find many things have decreased. The other thing that skews the statistics as far as things getting worse or increasing is that we didn't have the standards and measures that we have now. So we are detecting and recording and reporting more diseases, crimes, tragedies than ever before, however that doesn't mean these things are occurring in greater frequency, it simply means we notice it more now.
