This is somewhat off topic but I didn't think it important enough to start a new thread about.

I just remember I was on GLP a year ago and being berated for one of those who come on "every year" to comment on how the sun is not rising and setting in the "correct" spot.

I recall a few "professional GLP posters" and many shills trying to convince me via a *chart* that it was and always was rising in the spot that it should. At the time I conceded to the verbal attacks although I absolutely didn't believe it, even after looking at the mathematical data. One just can't argue with certain people about certain things.

I just wanted to point out that THIS YEAR I see no such threads, and also to point out that this year the sun seems to be rising in a "normal" point on the horizon.

Last year it was severely off and I stand by my observation. It was rising almost due south and even earlier in the year than November. I highly doubt that within the next month coming up to the solstice that it will be moving tens of degrees more.(Another reason I hesitate to start a new thread about this is because in all likelihood the shills would take that and run with it -- perhaps some reading this might do so anyway.)

Today it seems as normal to me as it did 20 years ago. I'm not here to analyze and I don't know what to make of it (except for the explanation of the earth's "wobble" on its axis).

I just wanted to point that out, that clearly there are *not* people on EVERY YEAR making such threads, as if there were we'd have seen many by now (I did a brief search of GLP).

They are probably pre-dating a thread (or threads) to make it appear as though there were posts created this year about the phenomenon I wrote about above.

Or otherwise maybe working on a "debunking" of the object the OP posted -- wow you guys actually ASK to be fed that crap, amazing. Can't say I'm surprised, unfortunately.

No, you misunderstand. I trust Astro to tell me if there is something I need to worry about. He's always treated me with respect and kindness and taken a great deal of his personal time to explain complicated astronomical events. I consider him a friend.

He helps me determine fact from fiction. I'm a doubting Thomas. I need to hear all sides and then make a decision based on the evidence presented.

Not gonna debunk, but I am gonna ask. Why isn't the object illminated buy the Sun, like any other orbital body that passes thru the Sattlelites field of view?

How come it doesn't move against the background like Mercury does? It looks like a static blob to me...

I was thinking the same thing, I have no knowledge of STEREO or I'd make an attempt. It does appear to have several orbiting bodies though, but does not shine in any way like mercury or venus do.

Cause it's no where near us. Someone found a blotch with no other identifiable planetary properties and called it Niburu.

People have given up. Every other day someone finds 'Niburu' and 3 days later the blotch in the sky they find is forgotten or proven NOT to be a planet.
Just wait, within 5 days someone else will post a new photo claiming its Niburu in a totally different part of the sky.

For all I know that object is supposed to be there. It may not appear to be moving because it could be travelling at or away from us, and maybe it's just a star.
