I asked them why they didn't just go get a $15 an hour job they KNOW they could get and they said they didn't want to work a shit job I was like FUCK it would be at least TWICE what you're getting now from unemployment but they preferred to scrape by on unemployment and NOT work... When the unemployment ran out guess who they turned to for money? ME I helped them for awhile but I've since cut them the fuck off.. now? This same person is applying for those $15 an hour jobs :) Those with that mind set, are now the ones who elect presidents. ‹^› ‹(•¿•)› ‹^› |

I've never been on unemployment until this year. It is a lifeline while I am looking. My family could not make it without it. I have been looking every day and applied for low paying jobs; as in $10/hour or less when I was making $43K a year. You may think it's easy to get those low paying jobs but many employers see a resume and see what you were making and were doing and pass you by thinking you will get bored and quit or will find something better and leave. |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 27719656 11/15/2012 01:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | here is whats going on...and we are very close to being on the other side of the domino. The more people that get laid off, means more people not buying anything. So..the more people not buying anything, gets more people laid of that can't buy anything, which gets more people laid off, that can't buy anything....are you starting to see this pattern? So given the latest news with this thread of the released of the new eco policy today this asserts in me...that we are so close to economic failure. 70% of this economy (hell maybe the global economy) works on us (IN the great USofA) on buying Stuff so China and the USA can keep their gears turning. So now they are desperate enough to give us money to spend to float this bad joke? Man are they fucked (money is so yesterday)...on the other hand welcome to the new coming Era. Where Man breaks the bond of slavery to money. And the elites lose the carrot to control us. Hopefully we can do something great with all our free time from NOT working for the man. |

Fix our roads, sewers, infrastructure and do something for your fellow man. Give them college education credits for their work and skill building. Build their work skills, so we can bring manufacturing back to the USA, don't let them be lazy. 400 every two weeks for hand clearing forest. I tried to get a full time job for a long time, sent out hundreds of resumes, and was unable to. I am working part time now and also learning how to day trade. I have given up on getting a full time job with my skill set. To get a full time job, I think I would have to go back and get retrained for a job in the health profession. |

SMile... go to pay my political debt... says the Democrats. The Economic Policy Institute released a new policy brief today that asserts the following: should the unemployment insurance extensions expire, the U.S. labour market would lose 400k jobs next year. It should be noted that the EPI is a left-leaning institute, but the information that they provide is usually spot on. Quoting: Wonkish SNIP Federally funded extended unemployment insur- ance (UI) benefits are set to expire at the end of this year. These benefits serve two very useful public purposes. Most obviously, they provide a lifeline to the long-term unemployed and their families during the deepest and longest economic downturn since the 1930s.1 Less understood but equally crucial, the UI benefit exten- sions boost spending in the economy and thereby create jobs. We find that continuing the extensions through 2013 would generate spending that would support 400,000 jobs. If this program is discontinued, the eco- nomy will lose these jobs. If it is happening up here in Alaska it sure the heck is happening down there in the lower 48. Yeah, there will be some Holiday hiring, but not as much as last year. Then everyone will get laid off. Bad to worse...thanks all you Obama supporters for helping ruin your own country. |

The only problem with that reasoning is that business, quite logically, is shifting, in stages, to low wage China. The remittances of the resulting dividends and profits, upon being taxed, make a useful fiscal base by which these previously employed individuals can be kept solvent whilst they are encouraged to seek more creative forms of employment and self-employment. The capital flight is relentless as China offers the promise of huge dividends and profits so I guess Western governments of all hues will be cultivating out of the box thinking. Trust me. I've sent out hundreds of resumes and applications to no avail in the last 6 months. Those unemployment numbers are grossly under reported. Too many unemployed, too few jobs. I've been unemployed for a year and have applied everywhere...and im NOT applying for $15 an hour jobs....im applying.for everything including minimum wage and still zero call backs or interviews, and was told by worksource my resume was awesome and to "hang in there. Yea there are ppl milking it...max ui here is $624 a week wo taxes taken out...i get a 3rd of that. the unemployment numbers are extremely bullshit. And i dont see things getting better. I'm not for or against cutting off the ui, is what it is..its the new america. Makes me feel sad though.for all the ppl with families that have tried everything... I don't have any kids or a house so it's easier for me to.couch surf, but it will be rather interesting.what comes of all this come dec 29 “I know but one freedom and that is the freedom of the mind.” Antoine de Saint Don't be afraid to share and speak the truth, for waking up one person is better then staying quiet. |
