Anonymous Coward User ID: 10153246 United States 11/15/2012 12:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was diagnosed in April after 12+ doctors and 3 pages of smyptoms...I am 41 and now bed ridden with it. The pain is absolutely excuriating. The dr thinks mine laid dormant for years after a tick bite. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22892874 I know of no one who has it and I am in GA...not know for lyme. What state are you in? From all my research it is NOT airborne or in saliva. If you have not seen the movie on hulu or youtube "under our skin" I highly recommend it. I have a PICC line now. I will keep your family in my prayers. According to a few doctors I have listed to, Lyme disease can be transmitted via air, saliva or contact. It is much worse then AIDS or HIV. We are taking SAMENTO.. He got bit in RHODE ISLAND, we never got bit, unless he brought a pile of ticks back? yes... the true experts admit it can be transmitted person to person. (definitely sexually) increase salt intake (Himalayan sea) and all but eliminate sugar from your diets. absolutely do not use sugar substitutes either. walk for 30 to 45 minutes a day. doxy seems to be the antibiotic of choice... you can spend a ton on them.. or do it cheaply. most people that have it think it is chronic fatigue, arthritis, fibro, etc. |
Squatch Hunter User ID: 25765147 United States 11/15/2012 12:43 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Dr Steven Harris is the President of the Lyme Disease Association of California (Redwood City) and one of the best Lyme Doctors in the Country. If I'm not mistaken his dad owns IGENICS. If any of you people live in California, he's the guy to see. Seriously. Chronic Lyme is a bitch. Especially if its crossed the blood brain barrier. If it has, you guys have to be on and off IV antibiotics for a long time. PICC lines work but are a pain in the ass to deal with. If you're facing the prospect of long term treatment a port is better. Its a damn tough, long road but in the end you'll get better if you're able to afford the treatment. WARNING...Most infectious disease doctors aren't lyme litterate and use CDC guidelines for treatment. One month IV antibiotics. That may work if you've recently contacted the disease but if its chronic, it could take years of that kind of treatment. Insurance companies won't fork out that kind of money. If you're disabled and can get on Medicaid, you only need a prior authorization and can get long term treatment without going bankrupt. Good luck you guys. I know what you're going thru. Hang in there. |

Chronic Lyme lays dormant for years than manifests itself as MS, Lupus, RA, Lou Gehrigs, Fibromyalgia etc etc. Surprisingly, the UN of all organizations, has done a lot of research on Lyme. They call it the "Great Imitator" as it pretends to be all these other diseases. Most people spend about 8 years of getting misdiagnosed before catching Lyme. My advice is to get a port installed if that's possible. Your quality of life will improve. |

Squatch Hunter User ID: 25765147 United States 11/15/2012 01:04 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Going to Lyme literate doctor tomorrow to get tested. I have 95% of the symptoms. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14393616 FYI....Lyme is a clinical diagnosis FIRST. If your doctor suspects Lyme may be the culprit, he shouldn't just give you a test. If he does, it may yield a false negative. After a clinical diagnosis, he should put you on heavy oral antibiotics for 45 days THAN RUN THE TEST and send the blood to IGENICS. Not only will IGENICS be able to screen for Lyme but they can also look for the Co-Infections that normally go along with the disease. |

My point is, your son probably got the tick because he had gone to some place like Thailand or India or some other third world place where the people there all have it and being the simpleton that your son is he did not think twice about the difference in hygiene practice between third and first world countries and simply assumed that he was going to have a got time if you know what I mean. Squatch Hunter User ID: 25765147 United States 11/15/2012 01:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | For people with Chronic Lyme, Oral Treatment usually won't work. They have to take IV's long term. They can get a PICC line installed in their arm but its a major pain in the ass to deal with when taking showers etc. A port can be installed in the chest under the skin. It requires surgery but is fairly easy to access and won't get in the way during daily routines. It can also be removed when treatment is finished. If you guys recently contacted Lyme, you should be able to do heavy doses of oral antibiotics and don't have to worry about IV's. But make damn sure its gone before stopping treatment. Otherwise, 10-20 years from now, it will come back with a vengeance. |

Lyme disease is widespread and you don't have to be in the woods to contract it anymore. |

Squatch Hunter User ID: 25765147 United States 11/15/2012 01:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP: what type of test is done to determine if one has Lyme's? Also, did your regular GP order the test for you? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 7554855 Normally they run an Elisha Test which will yield false negatives 50% of the time if Lyme is Chronic. The correct test is a Western Blot but you must be clinically diagnosed first, than put on heavy oral antibiotics 45 days prior to testing. This will allow the antibiotics to begin killing the Lyme if its present, get it out of the tissue where its hiding and make it borne in the blood stream. At that point, the Western Blot (2 different types of tests) has a good chance of catching it. IGENICS studies the blood under a microscope for 8 days before confirming results. |

It is transmitted via vaccines, biting insects other than just ticks, rodents, sex, blood products and during pregnancy to the fetus. I have a feeling that our food supply is contaminated as well. They also aerosol it and use it as a bioweapon. For those bible thumpers out there start considering it the plague in revelation. Also no one gets just Lyme theses days. If you have Lyme you are coinfected as well with other bacteria and viruses. Babesia, bartonella, erlichea, Epstein Barr, mycoplasma, etc. and if you don't get with a Lyme literate doctor you will never get better. If you need more info let me know. |

Goldi User ID: 8755634 United States 11/15/2012 01:29 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Oh and chronic Lyme doesn't alwaya have to be treated with heavy doses of IV antibiotics. There are many natural and integrative remedies that are safer and just as effective if not more so. Remember it is an individual treatment plan cause it is chronic and no two people are alike. No one size fits all with Lyme treatment. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23011194 Usually, the reality is the other way around. People get misdiagnosed with MS, RA, Lupus etc before getting the correct diagnosis of Lyme. Dr. Stephan Harris told me once that 80% of his patients in Central California were diagnosed with MS before finding the Lyme. |

There are approximately 200 Lyme Literate doctors in the United States. That's it. They understand Chronic Lyme and the treatment. The CDC isn't quite there yet but will be in the future. For now, people have to be proactive if they want to get better. |

The book Lab 257 is a good read about it and plum island but doesn't tell the whole story. Quoting: Goldi 8755634 Correct and Lyme disease is by far not the only one. “You have rights antecedent to all earthly governments; rights that cannot be repealed or restrained by human laws; rights derived from the Great Legislator of the Universe.” John Adams, Second President of the United States |
Squatch Hunter User ID: 25765147 United States 11/15/2012 01:44 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As an aside, those who have Lyme Disease might consider reading a book called LAB 257. Only one chapter is devoted to Lyme but its important in my opinion. It will break down the history of the disease and discuss a possible origin. In short, its probably a designer weapon from Plumb Island. The UN did some testing a few years back and found it had mutated something like 18 times over a matter of days (can't remember the exact amount). Hence, one of the reasons its so hard to treat. |
