We want to go somewhere where we will get Beach plus nightlife, shopping etc. We don't want to go to Florida, New York, Mexico or Dubai because we been there. Our budget is $4000 and thinking to stay 10 nights. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26825033 I would really appreciate your answer. Go to a place 1000 feet above sea level. If possible, go to Tibet. Swim with Dolphins on The Big Island, hike to the sacred pools on Maui, you get the picture. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27820894 I have been all over the world. Laguna is special. Nice to know that Laguna Beach is still nice. I went there many years ago in the summer, and it WAS very nice. We stayed at the Sand and Surf Hotel right on the beach and it was four star and not too expensive. I don't know if there would be much to do the winter though. Also, I know you said "Beach", but you might consider Palm Springs. The prices are dirt cheap, there is a LOT of shopping, and the temps are usually in the 80's or higher. Finally, if you don't care whether it's hot or not, Northern California is VERY romantic -- Carmel, the Sonoma Coast, Monterey -- but it can be chilly, so it's definitely not suitable for "just lying on the beach and getting tan." (And, if you ARE looking for that, why not consider Hawaii?) |

It's your honeymoon, so naturally wanting to spend more money. You might try the other islands of Hawaii like Molokai which may be considerably cheaper for very similar landscapes and secluded beaches. After all, much of the time will be indoors, ahem... The other islands are Maui, which is popular and expensive, or the faded beauty of Oahu. I wouldn't go to the island of Hawaii unless seeing volcanoes is a big deal. It's very rocky and stark on the Kona coast, lush on the Hilo side, but there's less infrastructure there. I highly recommend looking at Hidden Beaches of Hawaii. There's several books about them. They're the beaches that occur around the islands and which the locals use. They will be less crowded and often wonderfully private. That's very helpful for romance. While you may eat out a lot, there's a certain joy in preparing some of the local fish and tropical fruits. Often you can get a place with a kitchen, and then you can save a lot of money by eating breakfast and lunch indoors or preparing something to take on a picnic. Still, have you considered Costa Rica? I know you want to stay within the US, but it's absolute paradise. Moneywise it may be a wash to go there versus Kauai. |
