BP given 'RECORD-BREAKING' 5 BILLION $ FINE for DEEPWATER BLOWOUT!
...a cost of doing business says the BP CEO in private

BP is set to receive a record fine of between $3bn and $5bn (£1.9bn-£3.2bn) to settle criminal charges related to the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster, the BBC has learnt.

It will be the biggest criminal penalty in US history, BBC business editor Robert Peston says.

The settlement with the Department of Justice. It involves BP pleading guilty to criminal charges.

It is thought that up to four BP staff will be arrested, Robert Peston says.

Earlier, BP said it was in "advanced discussions" with US agencies about settling criminal and other claims.

I would like the CEO at the time to also have to give his entire pension pay out towards this.

It's chump change for BP. They make $5 billion in profits per year and have already allocated $38 billion just for the Deepwater costs.

The same place our tax money goes, into the pockets of the Fed bankers!

Wow, big whoop, they get fined 5 billion dollars that would have gone to the big bankers anyway. Nice dog and pony show.

BP was told specifically not to do this method! Money will not solve this problem. The damage has been done by thoughtless upper management, and the CEO of BP. How do you punish such a horrendous act on earth? It can't be done. Our government should have had total reign over BP's decisions to clean this spill up and monitor them very very very closely.

according to Greg Palast's investigations, it was because of 'quick-drying' concrete... cheap concrete that failed structurally.. Interestingly, this same concrete was used by TEPCO in Japan for the Fukushima reactors. The quick-dry concrete allowed BP 3 extra days of drilling... a HUGE amount of money is made per day.

The BP Execs that are arrested and tried should be put in a compound near the shores of the area they've ruined and sentenced to live there, with their families, until either "A: The gulf area recovers. B: There is a breakthru that allows complete clean-up without toxic after effects or C: until the execs and their children and their grandchildren die!

A truly fitting punishment would be making sure that they reap what they've sewn. They thought they could do this half-a-world away and never be touched by it themselves. Bullshit. Make it as personal as one possible can and let them feel the full wrath of Nature as she reels from this horrendous insult and attack on her systems and the creatures living in the affected areas.

Or - in the alternative, they can just go to prison for ten or twenty years each! Wonder which option they would choose if given the choice?

Bad idea actually you fucking dipshit

If America starts bouncing British buisinesses around after the recent anti british movies and games released , whilst getting Britain to fight its wars for it , then i doubt Britain will take Americas shit much longer - catch my drift ?

Britain would chase every single American buisness out of the United Kingdom , resulting in Europian countries chasing American companies and rsulting in the total fucking collapse of the American Economy.

America`s lucky England is being ruled by cock-eyed dicksuckers , if a real man was in charge America would be nothing but fucking ashes by now.
