There's an easy way to deplete the ranks of Patriots. Draft them and send em into a meat grinder over seas. Glad I'm to old for the draft. It's coming....

In WWII most soldiers had never traveled more than 50 miles from their home. They got their news from papers that cartoon characterized Japanese people like coke bottle glasses wearing gremlins. They also made sure Pearl harbor was a "dirty sneak attack" The typical american had no knowledge that the Japanese are probably the most honorable warrior culture on the planet. (if there is any honor in war)

Even before that, they would send revenuers to German descended households and drop a very heavy suggestion that if they did not buy war bonds against their fatherland, life would get "interesting". Draft was easy. most enlisted so they could chose their service.

Korea was jobs program, for guys who already knew how to do the job.

Vietnam was a red scare. cold war. That generation was trained daily from age 5 to hide under your desk to survive a nuclear det.

today, even the most retarded young person has access to Wikipedia. it is going to have be 20x pearl, 10x 9-11 before they could make a draft work.

You're right, there is no draft...NOW. There's only ever a draft when there's a need for soldiers. Which there probably will be soon.

No way I'd sign on. I'd kill to protect my love ones, and then only if 100% necessary.

That's how they get you to fight. You get put in teams, learn to care for the people you're with as if they were loved family. Then get thrown into situations where maybe the enemy doesn't deserve to die, but you now have no choice but to fight back to protect your new loved ones, your fellow comrades in arms.

It's neither here nor there for me. I've got duel citizenship. I've only got daughters, but if they started drafting women, you'd bet we'd head up north.

How about we do it this way? instead of feeling you have to rush out and give up your life, or that of a person you love, we train ourselves by making sure every single person in america pays a certain amount of tax that directly funds the military?

Everybody. including the corporations. it can be as simple as $10 per person per year, no exceptions. You must report once per year and pay the money or they will come to your home and take it.

If this goes over well, then we can start talking about a draft. Then we can voluntarily have people lining up at the MEPS centers.

I don't think there will be a draft until the crisis manifests more clearly, then it will be 18-25 year olds, then everyone else.
