One "special" person on another forum where i am asking for info about the battle wants me to say "the proof is self-evident in the round." as to the effectiveness of the 22lr. I will try and find some better proof. The economy is doing great. More green shoots each day. Consumer confidence is great. Unemployment is dropping. Stocks are soaring. Europe is saved. | Anonymous Coward User ID: 27793513 11/16/2012 12:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | outside of warfare, the lowly .22 rimfire has killed more people than any other round. the first fixed ammo firearms were s&w .22 revolvers. they were incredibly popular during the civil war, and for decades afterwards. big bore power means nothing if it misses. as for "what firearm should i get for my wife, kids, dog, goldfish, etc.?", how the fuck would any of us know? we don't know your family, nor have we gone shooting with them. build and appearance mean squat. ive known big husky bruisers that couldnt shoot a .22 without flinching, and tiny little "frails" that could clip a nickel at 25 paces with a .45 all day long. for long guns, stock fit is more important than caliber. measure from the middle joint of the strong side index finger to the inside of the elbow joint. that's the "length of pull" that will fit, as a general rule. subtract for beefy pecs or shoulders, or bulky clothing. if it shoulders quick and natural, and your cheek tucks into the comb without contortion, then it'll be a "natural". those old english game guns were built to specific dimensions for individuals for that very reason. for handguns one that actually fits the individuals grubby paw, and points as a natural extension of the forearm line will be a "natural". avoid sharp checkering on "kickers". in short, there are no pat answers, and anybody offering them is just shit talking. |
